Ok, so i was checking the Cupra today for splits after VAGCOM suggested i had an air leak, cauing over fueling (too lean) and trying to find anything is like finding a needle in a hay stack...

but i found splits in this hose...

what hose is this please?

Can anyone post any pics of common hoses that are likely to split? That would be much appreciated.

Also, looking through the history of my LC (its 1 week old) i noticed that in 2009 it had some dodgey remap and "uprated" DV.

any ideas what DV this is? It has no markings

Any help is greatly appreciated.

the split pipe is the brake booster, that wont cause a boost leak as the one way valve stops air going through it, to fix this get some kind of plastic weld or glue and black tape over the top.

Cheers mate, any ideas where to start with looking for a leak?

Where abouts are you based btw if you dont mind me asking?

Lose the valve, get a new one from Badger5 username ibizacupra on here - he'll get you very good price and offer discount as you're SCN member.

Chances of leak you're going to have to follow the pipework which carries air i.e. go from air filter -> turbo -> then out turbo to chrage pipe -> follow that around the left side of the engine -> down towards the drivers side intercooler -> check the pipe running along the inside bottom of the bumper -> to passenger side cooler -> then up towards throttle body.

If you can't find it then next thing to check would probs be vacuum hoses although I don't know if these would pick up "air leaks" in VAGCOM although one may of popped off somewhere so do check.

Hopefully that helps :)

hi dave im from bristol. start by testing your dumpvalve. push the piston up inside the valve, then put your finger over the top, covering the small outlet, then release the piston. if the piston stays up then its working correctly but if it springs back then you need a new one. thats the starting point. next you will have to inspect all pipe work for splits playing good attention to the pipe under the inlet manifold. check pipes coming off the dump valve its self. also check the y shaped pipe to the right hand side of the engine block.

Excellent, thanks Sam, Joe, much appreciated!

As soon as this crappy weather stops ill get out and give all the mentioned hoses a proper going over!

Im getting a FMIC soon, so hopefully alot of the hoses will be replaced.

I just want to make sure the car is running exactly how it should before i start tuning/remapping etc

all depends what pipes you want to replace and that is defo not a forge dv.forge do most of the pipes you want to replace but not all.
