just leave it on, dont waste any money on it, people still get maf failure with stock airbox and stock airfilter.

boost delivery can be crazy at times, sometimes its hard to find the explanation

you shouldn't have to turn the engine off and restart it to gain full power, if thats the case then maybe there is an issue some where such as the n75 boost pressure valve.

if how ever, it occurs when cold and eventually like after 5mins driving it boosts normally then many people have issues like this

I'd say MAF failures are more down to the oil breather system and vibration than open cone filters.

I've replaced one MAF in 50k of driving with an open cone filter.

No point second guessing, just find someone who will vag com your car.

I thought i read somwhere this is normal for it not to boost stright away when cold? some sort of safety feature for the engine?

David.

the n 75 boost valve are they expensive?

not really no more than £70 i think like they have said above dont go guessing it and buying parts just find somone in your area with vag-com and give them some beer tokens! Where abouts are you from mate?

David.

im In nottingham m8 but every week i go london (hendon) to! busy boy! Is the n75 boost valve near the recirc valve! it only goes to 5psi the odd time some times when warm some when cold

My boost wont seem to go over 6-7 psi and seems to please itself. I replaced my MAF and it made a little difference as well as my MAP sensor. I noticed a valve that has 3 rubber hoses going into it and an electrically plug, one of the hoses goes to the turbo actuator and one into the air intake pipe behind the MAF. I took this unit out and put in a plastic T piece and joined all the hoses to the T piece it seems to run loads better but still only 6-7 psi boost max. Have i bypassed the N75 valve?? my engine is in a VW Caddy pick-up truck and has no N249 valve (i think) or one of those air pump valves as it has no cats. Have i bypassed the N75 and is it a wrong thing to do?

i got a spare N75 if you wanna buy it off me for 70 quid. lol.

No offence mate, we dont know what map you have so we cant really tell you what boost its supposed to be running, best bet is to find someone local to you who can vag com it.

Will do cheers mate.

does it only go into limp mode if you've revved it hard?

my car sometimes does the same if I take it to c. 6k revs in 3rd. I just flick the ignition on and off on the move and its fine again.

mine isn't maf related because it did it before and after i changed mafs last year.
