Well I've been readin up today (you can tell I'm bored) and apparantly your insurance company can say after an accident or whatever that the tyres weren't fitted to the tyre manufacturers specifications, making the insurance void, or something along the lines of that.

thats quite wide you should never fall off the road with that sort of gurth lol.
will they fit ok when its lowered.

This is what I don't know yet, I need to find out how far they're gonna go out, and I have a feeling it'll sit about 5-10mm out of the arches

if its noticeably having the wheel out the arch is illegal and MOT failure but if its close to arch most testers wont notice or be bothered

come the mot its back to steels id say if that was the case. most people cant see 10mm or would even care especially if its your local friendly mot tester.

true true i agree in the end mate id do it and as cupra al says put steelies back on for test time just i dont wanna do it to mine becuase my mate with a golf mk3 had his decked and the wheels out the arch by 2.5 cm and he got finded and had to sort it out then and there as it was "unroad worthy" the wheel had to be changed or the car go towed lol so depends on your local police i guess

Had the standard Sport alloys for the first year and a half or so:

Then bought these and had them on the car for 5 days:

Then I had these for a couple of years:

BBS RXii with colour coded centres which I loved.

Car is currently sitting like this:

Standard Sport alloys sanded back and sprayed black. They are a bit shabby but fine for using on the salty winter road!

Yeah tyre shine in the last picture was definately needed lol

The Keskins, although a sweet looking rim, I just felt were too big for the look of the car! They were 17x8.5 all round and scrubbed like hell. They looked fine in the long grass at E38, but on flat concrete, they looked huge on the car! So I decided to get the 16s of the same design but they would not clear the Sport's 288mm brakes! So I gave in with the KT1s!

Looking back, I reckon Rimstyle could have provided me with far greater stretched tyres. I had to raise the front so the tyres didn't constantly scrub!

Loving those keskins matey! How far out the arch were they using 8.5J's (and their offset if you can remember)? Looking to get 9's for the back, oh and if ya didn't know I'm bigwill who jus joined up vagingit the other day ;)

Hey mate, yeah i'd guessed, i don't come on here much to be fair!

The 8.5 were a nice fit and didn't come out from the arch at all if i remember correctly! the tyres were too big looking back though and scrubbed a lot. the fronts were more of a problem though!

If I were doing 8.5s again, i think i'd stretch some 205 rubber on to them instead of the 215 (or was it 225?) that were on there already! My bro is running 215/40 (i think) on his 9s!

As for offset, i do believe they were ET35! Hmmm maybe your ET30 9s will go in no trouble then! I don't know how close mine were to catching the damper though.

Damn that musta been a bit of stretch, think I'll go with that or 225's (funny rimstyle only offers up to 215 for 9s though)

As for the offset we can only pray it'll be fine :D

Are you thinking about lowering your car eventually?

215 on a 9 is not a massive amount believe it or not and its certainly not a silly/dangerous amount.

I think 215/40 will be fine and then 195/45 on the front. Also depends on the brand of tyre too. Toyo stretch nicely as do Nankangs but some do not strech that well.

I wouldn't go for a 225 rear as this is too big and will look a bit silly, unless you get a very low profile tyre.
