just wondering how i can tell which 1.4 petrol engine i have as i was told by the dealer when i bought it was the 85ps model but i know this this the 75ps but i'm not sure since the car seems to be in the borderline of facelift. Or i just could be confusing myself and i'm wishful thinking, but how can i tell? VIN? ECU label?

2005 I would guess to be 75bhp - facelift wasn't until circa mid 2006 - mine's one of the first - registered 3rd July I think

I have a 2006 55 plate pre-facelift 1.4, dealers told me it was 75bhp, but when i do insurance quotes with a few companies and put in my reg they come up saying its a 85bhp version? :S

im pretty sure it wont be the 100bhp one unless it has discs on the rear, if it has drums its either the 75bhp or 85bhp.

oh i know its not the 100ps formula sport model for sure but is there a time period of when the 85ps took over the 75ps? whats the difference between the two? i have the marelli ecu if that helps?

iv just bought a 02 1.4 se sport ?! didnt no ther was such a thing, it has discs on the rear. will it be 100hp? its got leather steering wheel n all that jazz.

yes, if it has discs as far as im aware it will be the 100bhp version.

o thats great news! think it needs a new starter motor though! might still get it on warranty, bought the car for 2800 with 30k on the clock! i have some pics but i dont no how to get them on here.. AMATURE!

My diesel Cupra comes up as the petrol version on some insurance websites so I wouldn't pay too much attention to that.
