I am planning to retrofit the OEM Bluetooth + replace the instrument cluster for the larger display one, just wondering if I'll get the features you describe.

i also have the convenience pack, but its the bluetooth option thats has all the bells and whistles.
i honestly dont know if you will get all these when retro-fitting. dan has looked well into this, and there are other users on different forums that have done it, but i wouldnt like to say for definite.

Just spotted this.. added comments below.

Retrofitting gives you the same options as if it were an factory option. The same should apply to all OEM retrofitted items if properly done

but your alpine unit wont give you;

cruise control diallights, comes with instrument cluster with large MFD (bluetooth option/retrofit)
low washer fluid warnings, comes with winter pack / Xenon option, or can be retrofitted.
door/boot open indications, on the larger MFD
the fascility to change comfort options, on the larger MFD, (more options on MY07 cars or later)
last caller details, large MFD
missed caller details, large MFD
sat nav directions, large MFD
cd track details, large MFD - only shows track number
low tyre pressure warning standard feature

etc, etc.

so much more than bluetooth....

and, you can also get artist and track name with mfd3.

I knew that with SD cards and with songs on the HDD.. but also with normal audio CD's, or with just mp3 CD's?
..the CD must have CDtext obviously, if its a normal Audio CD.

As far as I've found just MP3 CD/DVD's

ive got the seat version dan without the sd slot. and as for cd's, i honestly dont think ive played one, bought or +/- rw. i use stuffed dvd's (mp3 format) and the hd. both of those display the artist and track - if thats what you select of course.
