Just tried on the ET35 8x18 CHs to see how they looked the poke did look cool but decided against it.

ET50 8x18 CH fitted tommorow May need to space em a little bit (to get to et44) To lower it as much as i intend to. More to follow...

So after reading this thread it seems that if i want to get 18's for the missus mk2 fr tdi then get 8 inch 45 offset (planning on lowering by 40mm)? Would that change if i wanted to fit 19's on it and still lower around 40mm.

PS Mk2's looking very smart on here fair play :)

The diameter is ok in both options, 18 or 19", because the height of the tyre makes this similar, however pay attention to the width dimension, I recommend 8J (7.5 is stock) as the most when lowering. And don't be too enthusiastic with the tyres (keep the 225 width). Cheers!

Im running 235 width tye, seem ok, especially as the car is lowered alot. The suspension is very stiff with almost no body roll so that helps aliviate any rubbing on fast corners

Ok cheers lads, im running 235/19's on my mk1 with a 30mm drop and never had rubbing but was planning on sticking with 225 on the mk2 so will have to see how the ride is after changing springs/suspension (as horrible crashy it at the moment!!!) before deciding on what size wheels.

Eibach Pro or Sportline should sort that out.

DJ...waited a month for my pro races to arrive...they are 18x 8 ET40 and i've got sportlines...please tell me they will fit! :headhurt:
...they should be here tomorrow!!

The back will be fine.

You are gonna get a bit of scuffage on the front inside the wheel arch with sportlines, as my ET45's do it on (very) fast corners with the Sportlines. Dans doesnt though despite having wider tyres and lower suspension. All down to his suspension being superior (harder) I guess.

you may need to mod the front arches very slightly, ie; just take a screw out inside the arch and maybe bend a bit of metal (which you cant see on the outside)

hmmm interesting... will see what the guys at the wheel place think..i'm going to fit them on their forecourt to see how it goes, any problems arise then can see if they can suggest. It was rimstock that confirmed it was ET40 and they knew it was lowered.

what bit of metal will I need to bend? can I do it using my hands or is it more a mallet job?

Let us know how you get on fella as currently looking at a few sets and dont really want to have a set delivered that fit ok but when lowered foul the arches.

Yeah will do...its dragging on this now! waited a month for these pro sports! Everytime I ring wheelbase in oldham they say we'll ring you back with when they'll be here...but don't [:@]...its always always 'in a couple of days'

Could you not get them direct at Rimstock? Hope you get them sorted mate.

Yeah so do I! It was cheaper for me to buy tyres and wheels from wheelbase than to get the rims direct from rimstock and tyres from camskill/ blackcircles...starting to wish I got off the shelf wheels! Tension of how they'll look and whether they fit is getting the better of me :headhurt:

They're here!!!!!!!!!!

Just a quick update guys on my sportline lowered FR.

Just taken delivery of my Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2 Black with red lip.
18inch, 40 offset, 225 Toyo T1r's.

Gotta say looks the business :funk:

They fit like a dream, fill the arches better than the 17inch FR wheels.

Stance looks a lot more aggressive due to the extra .5inch width of wheel and the offset makes each wheel stick out an extra 21mm.

No fouling of the arches, done a few twisties and tight corners, no rubbing or catching on pot holes either given them a thorough run.
