Mobil 1 ESP 5W30 fully synthetic in my Leon 1.5tsi every time !
I've been using that in my 2011 Audi S4 since 2013 and my wife's 2015 VW Polo 1.2TSI since 2019, ie main dealer warranties and service plans had expired.

Edit:- I also tend to use Mann filters if I can't find any genuine VW Group branded Mann oil filters being sold at a very "good" price.

Opie Oils suggest that 5 litres is enough, maybe check that website with your reg number, I can't say what your version of 1.4TSI needs volume wise.

I have a 2L tsi dsg 190 and it states the car will take 5.7L of oil which isn't what i expected, is this accurate?
Also which grade do i need? Is it 5w30?

EA888 Engine 2 L needs 5,7 L including change of filter. I use 5w-30 spec vw 50400.

Looking at the DKZA 2.0 engine - 5.7L is listed on the data I can see also. More than my TDI!

Time/distance dependent service
Engine oil SAE 0W-30 VW 504 00
Engine oil SAE 5W-30 VW 504 00

Longlife, ( - 2020)
Engine oil (Preferred lubricant specification) SAE 0W-20 VW 508 00
Engine oil (Alternative lubricant specification: Oil of this quality may be used but exhaust emissions will increase) SAE 0W-30 VW 504 00

Any real differences to 0w20 and 0w/5w 30 other than increase in emissions?
Thanks for your replies btw.
Also seems I'll have to buy 6L minimum.

Easily explained. 0w-20 vs 5w-30.
0w-20 is thinner, has lower viscosity. 5w-30 can withstand heat better. If it was a Cupra for sure i would use 5w-30 (higher output means more heat). Last time I did a change on my Leon Cupra I consumed 5,8 L, included a couple of cl to rinse the filter container :).

So 0-30 is somewhere in between?

The 190tsi - is an EA888 gen3B - the B being important differentiator - it runs the Budack cycle (similar to miller cycle) rather than the otto cycle - so an efficiency orientated design, not just a de-tuned GTI engine! along with a host of other changes in the name for economy.

The DKZA 190tsi uses a different oil pump to the usual crowd of EA888 engines (GTI/Cupra/R etc) so would be fine to run of either 508 or 504. I would not run the standard GTI/Cupra on EA888 on 508 (0w20)

Yes you'll need 6L.
If you just putt around in your car - commuting to work/family etc.. then 508 (0w20) will be fine.
If you intend re-mapping it and driving like you stole it I would put 504 (0w30 or 5w30) in.
