would a cupra ECU work on a FR

Hi was wondering would a 54 TDI Cupra ECU work on a 54 reg TDI FR Ibiza??? i have compared the part numbers its only thelast 2 letters that are diff??

any help would be great thanks steve

also what is the cupra BHP again? cheers

no , different turbos , intercoolers etc , bit like saying if i fit a veyron door handle will i get 987 bhp

oh ok i thought they were the same engines , diplacement, bore, stroke etc all the same? just thought it was a tweeked ecu on the cupra? Maybe not !

Nope im afriad not, as mentioned above, lots of go faster parts on the Cupra for the extra 30bhp

a friend of mine which works at a Seat delers had a cupra ECU on a FR,the car was going like mad,but was smoking and getting very low mpg

so he had acess to the codes to get round the immobiliser issues, seems strange that he would use the wrong ecu though.

Sorting out the IMMO codes is only half of it. A remapped ECU for your FR would still perform much better. Also two different ECU's been used on the Ibiza Cupra TDI now.

Or use the Cupra ECU if you also swap other Cupra parts over, mainly turbo and FMIC.
