If you mean HID's then get them...........NOW, they are brilliant but don't go above 6000k as the police could well take a liking to pulling you over.

I've had the stock bulbs, PowerBulbs blue bulbs and a HID 6000k kit in the Leon (at least, these are the ones I've had for enough time to make an opinion).

The stock bulbs are crap.
PowerBulbs blue were much better, whiter and more usable, cleaner light.
HID 6000k makes both of those look like they are candles in comparison.

PowerBulbs cost £30 once delivered. HID kit cost £70. There is more than double the difference in light output, colour, safety, road coverage, sign and road marking highlight so well worth the price.

I find the stock lighting very good!

Any of you ever driven the Mk4 Ibiza? I found the lighting from that to be the worst I've ever had in any car, almost unuseable at night as it was just a bright square in the middle of the road.

I find the Leon even with standard bulbs to be bright and well spread.

I have a serious dislike for over bright lights on oncoming cars, very blinding for us poor people they shine at.

The leon stock lighting has to be the worst lighting ive ever had on a car, and ive had a 1.0l corsa. the philips bulbs are a little better.
The range is terrible its maybe a wider pattern than before.I would definatly recomend xenons, but they are last on my list as i only drive round reading and Uxbridge so everywhere is streetlamps. :).

When i was back home in Brighton i had some nice xenons on the corsa and the calibra.

HID or Bulbs

Hi there,

I just meant replacement bulbs, i don't know if just changing the bulbs will make much difference to vision.

I cant really afford the HID nor do i know how to fit them.

Standard lights on my leon are fine. If anyone can claim they're terrible, they must have never really driven in a car with terrible lights before :)

Theyare by design terrible. The reflection around the bulb is very poor. and the lights simply arnt capable of developing long range light. mush like the lights of old on Mk1 escorts etc.

Most headlights these days are wrapped back with reflection right along the bottom to point further in front.

But with xenons they are fine as xenon is much more penetrating.

Just save for a bit longer mate, it coming into summer so lights aint that much of an issue, save, get HID's and just ask for help to fit them!
You know it makes sense!

Not many places will warranty the work. If you're lucky enough to find somewhere that sells them off the shelf as well as offering a fitting service, then fine. But you might need to travel a fair bit to find somewhere. Places like Demon Tweaks perhaps?

But in all seriousness, fit them yourself. Even a Halfords employee could get it right, especially if you follow the guides and information already on the forum. Will save yourself a fortune too!
