you can buy a facia kit that will lengthen the arms on the h/u cage and allow you to fit it further back - (AD-GA10). There is plenty of room in the leon's dash to get it back a cm or two.
I further butchered part of the centre console (not too much so it wont go back to standard) so i can sit it even further back!
I'll upload a pic of my h/u in dash when I find it!

found them!
the surround has been moulded in with the facia adaptor and sanded smooth. A bit of bumper repair epoxy gunk does just the job and is really nice to work with. It has now been finished with some bumper paint to give it colour and texture and match the rest of the centre console. Its still in the garage mind!
