Using petrol gauge needle on a boost gauge???

Just bin in my car and had a brain wave!!!

Would it be possible to use the petrol gauge needle and put that on an autometer boost gauge????

I'm not to keen on the orange needle so this would make it look a lot more like the other gauges/clocks.

This is just an idea, so if it's not possible let me know!!!

Cheers.

Well that was my plan, does anybody know of a reason it wouldn't work, ie weight??

Oh rite, I didn't know this. I just wondered if it was possible as it would look quality.

how you going to open the gauge and fit it? Autometer gauges are a sealed unit, sealed by the outer metal bezel, to open it up you have to prise the bezel off.
I this a no no then or is it still poss???

I will still get the accurate reading????

Has anybody done this????

I think with sum sealant you could make it look good. My brother is quite good at things like that"!!!!!

why dont you save yourself the hassle and just buy a different boost gauge
Why do you know of one that looks identical to the Std gauges???? Ie white/silver back ground with a lit up red needle with silver centre???

If it won't work tell me and i'll stick with the std look of the autometer one. I have no complaints with the gauge itself. I'd just like it to be more like the others!!!!

Well that is a fair point but if it worked and it looks the same as the others and will light up (the actual needle) i'll be over the moon!!!!

Some would say spending money on different badges would be a waste of time!!!

if you wanna do it, go ahead, no one is saying dont do it, just alot of hasstle for what its worth
So it CAN be done? Re sealing it etc really won't be a major problem.

My concerns are 1) will the needle fit 2) Will it give the correct reading?

Hassle i don't mind, TBH it's not gonna cost anything!!!
