Yes ive done a search before you all say! This is a question that i havent seen asked yet.

My drop links are 12" long and hit the drive shaft (a well known problem i know) but i havent got the money for the h & r arb so my question is if the drop links were shorter will this solve the problem?

I know it helps with the Lc's but their joined at the lower arm and have about a 7" drop link (i got an adjustable from big boys toys but was way too short) so if i can find a car that has maybe a 10" drop link can this be the cheaper option???

Thing is all my searches have revealled that the LCR seems to be the only one with a 12" drop link thats got a 90 degrees turn and left/right handed!?!

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks.

C'mon people someone must know if i can have the drop links cut down or if there is another car out there that may possibly use 10" drop links???

Advice needed asap please

I have the V-Max coilovers on my LCR and have a drop of approx -45mm, i have no issues with the Drop link hitting the drive shaft.

Athough i read previous posts that this can be a problem im baffeled as to why i dont have this fault.

ive lowered my missus mk4 golf 50mm and it hits the same. just going to order the drop links from big boys toys, £49. should do the trick.

Nev? Are then curved or somthink??

i thought most coilovers for the LCR come with new shorter droplinks?

Becareful there mate I thought the same and when they sent them out they were way too short, turns out you cant get adjustable drop links for the cupra r (same as mk4 golf) as the drop link is mounted to the shock not the lower arm.

I now have a funny feeling that my top mounts might be the knocking noise that im hearing!?! Because my drive shafts dont actually have any marks on them from where i thought the drop links are hitting them.

So BBT are all BS when they say 50 for adjustable drop links?

Jesus.. This is becomming a pain

Leon7284. Did ur coilies go on with standard droplinks?

I have no isue with drop links on my LCR and its low. The isue is only with the LC and lower models with the shorter link that connects to the lower wishbone arm.

Now you've said that im convinced my problem is elsewhere then!?! It knocks so much and after reading loads of threads on this ive put it down to the drop links. ARB's should be turning up soon so expensive mod if it does cure my knocking!

The difference in the arb isnt just the drop links though,

On the non LCR Leon the arb curves over the driveshaft and is connected to the wishbone via a drop link. This is why when lowered the arb rubs on the shaft.

On the LCR the arb runs UNDER the driveshaft and connects to the strut not the wishbone. So if you lower it it actually gets further away.
