i had the door cards off yesterday and took out the original speakers but the replacements don't fit.are there adapters available or is it a case of making your own?
I had this problem too, the problem is mate the old speakers aint round, i eventualy used the adapters that came with my JBL's and drilled some more holes! sounds sweet now though but it was a much bigger job than i thought!
I have exile components in mine with the tweeter flushed in aswell but Audio Advice (which is in lanarkshire btw ) told me that they had problems fitting others because they need to be slim here is a pic
how come u didn't put the tweater in the standard place?.. and i got jl k2's in my front doors with adapters fits fine n the tweaters are in the standard places
to be honest i didnt have a clue about audio then and i thought it was fine but obviously they just did it because it was so easy . where is the tweeter btw?

They should be not more than 15cm's away from the speaker for good SQ. Ideally the door should have a pod facing upwards towards the driver as below(this is a footwell pod). Applys to door pods too though.
Problem with that is that the sound from the tweeter hits your ear before the sound of the speaker with carries the Mid and Bass which is obviously further down at the door, so your catching delayed sounds from the latter. Ideally the sound should be coming at the same time into your ears hence placing the tweeter near the speaker.
Placing the tweeter in the dash provides a soundstage as it reflects off the windscreen opening up the highs of the tweeter problem with that is you'd have to remount the speaker higher up the door.
Take a look at some professional installs at SQ competitions. Never mind the 23 speakers in one car with 18 subs Max Power stuff thats all for show!
my Jl's are in normal places but adjusted the db of the tweeters does sound amazing tho sound stage is high bass goes through to the front i dont sit in the back so i dont care
