LCR brake discs / Haynes Manual?

Well ive just had my LCR back from the garage. Had the passenger window fixed (new cable kit side panel thingy), new frint splitter, and a full 60k Service (lots of bits changed) feels like new again.

BUT.... discs on their last legs, was told this about 3-4 months ago aswell. need to get started on replacing them. Before all you search police get on my case. I have done a search and having read quite a number of pages, it lefts me, well, more undecided.

Ive heard bad things about EBC discs and bad things about Black Diamond from freinds. I would prefer aftermarket, maybe grooved/drilled. Have about £250ish to spend. plus i already have some F2500's brake pads.

Anyone have anything else to the above on their LCR's (all im interested in) that have proven quality stopping power etc?

............... also (2nd part) do they do a Haynes manual for the Seat Leon, Interested in doing the brakes myself - and generally getting to know the car better.

No Haynes manual for the Leon - the mk4 Golf is similar, but won't help you with the brakes. There is a guide in the infobase section for changing the brakes

I have the EBC Ultimax discs and they are good but I wouldn't say the be all and end all.
I think these are a cheaper alternative to the Brembo discs with the last time I checked were £300 for the front.
The next time I change dicsc and pads I'm going to try the Brembo ones with DS2500 pads, not because I don't like or think the EBC discs are good just to try these out to see the difference. I don't mind paying the extra if the difference is going to be significant.

how many peope are members of the leon Mk1 thread??? if we all sign a partition stating a manual would be good do you think haynes would see the demand? or if any1 lives in sparkford then donate you car for 4 weeks you'll get it back & a free manual as well.

To be honest i had EBC disks on my escort,

After a month or so they started to crack, loads of hair line fractures and although i broke hard, still only my escort si so not brake neck speeds

When i contacted the company i bought them from they advised i needed to send them back to be investigaged and buy another set to go on with... seemed pointless so i put standard disks on and bought a leon..

Cheers, its been a while, but brakes all sorted. After much deliberation i decided to go with the standard Brembo set-up - Brembo discs and pads on the front, and just Brembo pads on the back. Well happy, great stopping power!

I have EBC grooved and dimpled discs with Ferodo DS2500 pads and they've been great. Excellent stopping power and no signs of warping or cracking. I have read nightmare stories on here about EBC pads though, especially Red Stuff.

Im running brembo discs, DS2500 pads and using mutol brake fluid on my LCR and have had no problems. Braking is very responsive
