OK from my understanding your basically get pipe vibration when your lightly on the pedal. I get that when I am lightly on the throttle every now and again. It happens for like half a second to a second. Its almost like there isnt enough boost going through the pipework because too little throttle is being pressed? I think thats normal unless it isnt? Car never had any sort of power issues at all or hesitation unless its been really really hot.

Sounds to me like EGR, like muddy said at the start of the thread. I had a similar thing with my 110 when i got it. You have a 150 from memory which has the seperate N75 and N18 valves on the back firewall, swap them over and see how it goes....

Yeh, I was supposed to do that this weekend, but I had lazyitus.

Took the car out on Saturday, and I must say its running bloody lovely on full throttle, feels really quick at the mo, and since doing the ECU reset my MPG recovers much quicker after a good boot.

Shall swap the N18 and N75 over, just wish I had the nack of getting my EGR off too, I might just book it into garage for it doing - I need a bigger variety of tools!!

I had this on my Leon, had a look and one of the boost hoses was half out, had a golf TDI 150 and the same thing happened, but quite jerky.

Reet, I have limp mode at last............:)

Car has been jerking quite bad last couple of days, and when I start it up a nice carbon spray comes out of my exhaust and stains the paving blocks.

Took laptop out tonight for logging. As i'm flooring it in 3rd I get a huge hesitation and limp mode.

17965 - Charge Pressure Control: Positive Deviation
P1557 - 35-00 - -

Limped it to a lay-by and restarted, car goes like the clappers again and the smoke when booting it has died right down back to normal again.

Got a log to post too, if I can get my file sharing to work again. lol

As you might expect from the "positive deviation" fault, your boost looks way too high - 2988mbar means you're nearly at 2 bar boost (once you subtract atmospheric pressure).
And then it stays there....

Sticking VNT mechanism is likely...

Can't remember what car you've got - do you have a separate N75 ?

Yeh I have the seperate N75. Are they easy to swap over? I've read lots about people braking the N75 as they try to pull the lines off.

Can't believe component failing at your mileage Chris

Your logs are a bit beyond me but would suggest one or 'tother mentioned.

I know, I don't have much luck with cars me.

I wrote off my 1st MKII Golf, my 2nd MKII golf had major carb problems, my 3rd car a pug of two years old had a disagreement with the gearbox, my 4th car a focus had a piston ring that was stuck closed.

Now my Leon is boosting all over the place.

:censored:

Just rung SEAT - He says I need a ECU flash.

Asked him if that would delete my remap and he said it would, I take it that is just like a IT guy saying reboot whenever a PC has a problem.

Warranty has run out too, and the guy that has helped me out over there has left SEAT, so its down to me to try fix this as cheaply as possible.

Humbugs!

Tried the EGR/VNT exercise routines from within VCDS? Maybe give them a 10-15 minute run each and see if the constant activation/deactivation frees up anything that's sticking a bit?

Can you go into any more detail with this?

VCDS? Can I only see the VNT exercise from underneath?

N75 is very easy to change Chris. Just 3 hole clips and an electrical plug.

I realy cant see a ECU flash doing anything mate. Its just the dealers way of trying to con more money out of you. Once they have re-flashed the ECU and the problem is still there they wont give you your money back will they!!
If it is something to do with the map I would speak to Will at P-torque. I'm sure he can give you some advice.

I had a very similar problem not long ago. I changed oil & filter (I know this wonte of done anything to help the problem), new DV, new plugs and a new coil pack.
I had a coil pack pop the same night I fitted the new dv (2 days before Awsome). Since then I have not had the problem come back.

Here is the thread with my problem clicky.

Just been for a quick snoop under the bonnet in the dark.

Should I have a vacume from the black hose that goes to top of EGR on tickover?

Cos I don't have any vacume, and I can't remember if i ever did?

Chris, when you installed your SFS piping kit did you keep the vacuum chamber?

I thought you had that hose clamped anyway to disable your EGR?

I unclamped the EGR about 2 months ago, never clamped it back up again.

Yeh Maz, my vacuum chamber is located where yours is - I checked this last night too to see if it was holding vacuum and it is.

I'm going out now to try take my EGR off again. Hopefuly will get it all off this time and shall clean in.

Then I'm planning on getting car up on ramps, and doing the N75 exercise, see if that shows me anything.

Then I'm planning on swapping over N18/N75.

Im struggling to get 40MPG now, before I could really tickle the car round and I could push 43-44MPG.

Thing that I dont understand is if I boot my car everywhere (like its stolen style then I get low 30 MPG, if I tickle the car everywhere I get 38MPG, and I just can't believe there is only 8MPG of difference between the 2 driving styles. :help:

Finally managed to get the EGR off completely, took me a good 3hrs.

Inside is completely cacked up with crap, not sure if the actual EGR mechanism is supposed to be so hard to move? I can't see any vacume moving my EGR, I couldnt get it to move by sucking it, unlike the ASV which moves easily by sucking on it.

Anyhow, i've fecked the rubber seal on the EGR when removing it, so need a new one of them and lost 2 bolts that never dropped through to the undertray.

Looks like a rescue job for me Monday, i'm never going to attempt taking the EGR off ever again, i'd rather pay someone £100 to do it.
