Hi guys looking to get both the pd 160 air intake and green panel filter fitted to my remaped ibiza fr tdi. Just wondering the sort of gains u get from both items, and what difference they actually make? Also is there anyone at all who can help me source the items. Namely the full PD 160 intake? I have looked on ebay for a few weeks now, nd cant see any, nd i hear to buy it from seat is £75 +. Really would appreciate any advice at all thanks. And is it really worth it?

i dont understand the love of this intake fair anough its oem.
but you can use an intake pipe with less restrictions in it which will do the same job.
just use that ducting air intake stuff that green sell or make your own intake.
ive thought about doing away with my cupra intake and making the hole bigger on the airbox and then sealing in a new larger bore and smoother intake.
although i want to purchase a new airbox to do it with

i keep looking at the price of the pd160 and then think hmmm bit of pipe would do it the same and maybe better

probally not alot of gains although the diameter of the pipe is slightly larger so the engine will gain acsess to more air into the filter.
because so many people use them the dealerships put the price up from what i have read there about 70 pound. for the gain you get id say its not worth the money as you can get intake ducting or make your own for under 20 pound easy.
i own a cupra so i cant really comment on the difference it makes but i can say your get the same difference with making your own or buying ducting which is so much cheaper.

at best you get less smoke from what ive read on here and the skoda site. i got one because im trying to look as standard as possible. no not worth the money for any power gains.

Go for a cheapo airbox mod and drill the lower half of it to make it look like swiss cheese! I have done this and added a green filter too. Loads more induction noise and you can't tell just by glancing at it! PD160 intake not worth it in my view.

Just remove the old air filter and leave the airbox empty! Why not??? That'll improve air flow surely! Fool proof plan:shrug:

as then the engine would hover all the crap off the road and try to combust it and this would not be a good thing

Do I detect a hint of sarcasm here...

Maybe a touch;) Saying that tho a friend races tuned mx3's and he doesn't run a filter, mod'd air box with a smatter of oil to the sides to catch the debris! He thinks a filter is unnecessary unless you drive in the sahara!

The intake is seriously overpriced & if Seat hadnt got greedy with it they would be making more money selling larger quanties!

There is no way i would run without a filter, just look at all the crap that sits on the bottom of the windscreen as thats the sort of stuff you will be sucking in to the engine plus the sand that seems to gather in the filter box too

keep checking on here on the 'for sale' threads, or check skoda and polo forums or they use them...can get them cheap as they usually sell for about 30 quid, got mine for that price few months back.
