I always quite liked the update, but it definitely looks better in the flesh.

Not that my picture does it justice either.

The front grill looks cool.

How much of a facelift is it exactly? Is it just bumpers or is there other stuff different to look at?

I understand that the 170 diesel is going to be common rail so may be a bit quieter.

Exterior wise it's just different front bumper, bigger headlights apparently, different mirros, bigger back window and different shaped grille, different shaped tail lights. And maybe a few other minor things.

Urgh! Mine looks far better, especially as its in the same colour as the above! Awful alloys too!

On the outside, front and back bumpers (more the lower pretend diffuser), front grill, rear lights, rear screen, bigger mirrors. On the inside, dash, steering wheel, with a few bits looking the same as the new Ibiza. Seats look a bit different, the ones in the car I posted a pic of didn't have the seats that are shown in the offical pics at the beginning of the thread. Different standard and option wheels.

The TDi does indeed have the common rail engine, and the xds electronic diff from the golf was mentioned.

The differences are pretty subtle really, when the two cars are side by side. And to the casual observer, i.e. my wife, the differences weren't particularly obvious until explained (or she wasn't that interested take your pick ). :)

To buy or not to buy!

Should I buy an FR TRI Mk2 now or should I wait and get an ex demo Face Lift FR TDI in a couple of months.

I've seen one in Luna Grey, 07 plate, 20k Miles, FSH, 18"' alloys, bluetooth, auto lights. £12,500?

Or a FR550, 58 plate, 15k Miles - £14000.

I recognised the location of this piccy (SMC) so popped down there to have a butchers after our local SCN meet on Sunday evening.
All I can say is that the 'normal' facelifted Leon parked a couple of cars away from it looked more sporty than the FR from the front!! Not for me thanks.

Also had a quick look at the Ibiza SC TDI they had in which was much nicer looking.

FR550 is a nice package, much better looking than the facelift to boot

I popped down to the stealers and they had a new one in. I think that everyone is mising the point. I think they've kept the styling the same for us purists, but they've massively improved the interior. The plastics are much better. Especially the centre console, it's lost it's tinny feel and the whole thing feels firmer and solid. I think they are going for the focus/golf area with a much improved cabin.

 Looks like its suckin a lemon

Yeah it does! Now that you said that. Hello all by the way. I'm thinking about getting a facelift Leon MK2 FR TDi, but not sure about the front bumper. Will have to wait until I see one in the flesh at the stealers/dealers before I decide.

Is it true that the face lift FR TDi now comes with common rail engine and DSG (flappy padels around steering wheel)? Also is it any faster then the old Leon MK2 FR TDi? ie more/less bhp, heavier/lighter etc.

Also last question would getting an FR TDi with DSG be Revo-able? Any clutch issues? Are the current petrol FR's Revo friendly?

Did a quick photochop of the above photo: (Oh need 15 posts or something)

Thanks. That looks OK right? With some decent alloys, and maybe is Candy white or silver it would look good. Also maybe a black air intake rim.

Yeh, that in Candy white might look quite nice.

With regards to the facelift i'd much rather have a bog standard model over an FR now.

I wonder how interchangable the parts are. Would be great to have the interior of the facelift with the front of the prefacelift Cupra
