Ibiza 1.4 first car

Hey newbie post :)
Technically I lied in my title, it will be my second car, I still have my provisional license and I had decided to get a car, it was a 1.2 corsa b SXi, mot was last week and it failed miserably on emissions. So badly so, it needs a new engine. So tirah to that car, it is off to the scrappers.
Now I've been looking for a car for all of 3 days, and I saw a ibiza mk3 cupra with front mount intercooler, 4 pots, full exhaust system. It is the don! and thus has inspired me to get an Ibiza, even my mum approves good times!
But being 17 I will have to get a 1.4, few questions what are they like to insure, are they nippy, and anything else you can tell me would be great. I have searched but "first car" the word car is too common :p

Thanks everyone!

Cheap enough to insure, nippy enough for a new driver.

I think they're like group 4 or something

What are the 1.4s like tuning-wise, can they have uprated cams put in ect?

Thanks for the answers though :)

Waste of money - it's still a low compression 8v engine.

Drive it, learn to drive well in it & get something with a useful engine after a couple of incident free years.

It's not the answer you want, I know.

I'm not bothered I'm glad you told me before I ended up being cams :)
All I'm thinking of doing is, air filter, cat back exhaust, Team Dynamic alloys and lower it. Think that will be sufficient for a while :)

like the plan mate, will look good. Air filter won't give you any performance gains but might make it sound a bit nicer. :D
get some pics up when u can

good luck

Nah she's waiting to go to a mates garage to get parts broken off it, need any :)

That is the best answer you need bud.
Trust me I've just got through my first couple of years of driving! Now moved onto my Cupra being 19 :)
Yeah, just need to pass, then the real learning begins. Looking forward to it :)

May I be cheeky and ask how much your insurance is, also what policy and where is it based? :)
Jesus my corsa could get upto 90 with a STRONG wind, I wasn't driving it at that speed, mums boyfriend was. I'm not capable yet :)

Unless you meant my corsa...which you don't wanna see :p
Soo many plans, now we're sourcing a mk3 from a garage, learnt my £1000 lesson of buying a car from a friend, no warranty.

what... it is my first car and i live in a high risk zone clearly...

1st year: £1111 3rd party fire theft
2nd year (1yrs no claims): £906 3rd party fire theft, with any modifications included except to the engine/performance (which is a waste of money anyway)

Ah what a joke.. me on my mum's policy is still very expensive....
