Flip key "new" transponder question

Hi,

I read the sticky on flip key and stating to remove the transponder from the spare and putting it in the new flip key. However If I buy a blank flip key with a new unprogrammed transponder as below can I program this myself? or does it require a dealer?

if you have got a spare key which you can take the "chip" out of then you can program it yourself


If you havent got a spare "chip" then a dealer needs to do it , IIRC

So if the key comes with a new unprogrammed chip the dealer will need to do it then. The only bit you can program is the 434mhz unlock not the ignition chip

yeh you are not programming your old chip you are just connecting it to the new fob really it has already been programmed to the car.

No, most people use the transponder thats in the valet key (The one with no remote) Be careful though as there very fragile
