Dear All,

I went to view a 1.6 Leon which has 48K on the clock and full Seat Service History from a Seat Dealer today. Everything looked fine untill I looked at the oil cap which had quite a bit of White stuff and also at the top of the oil cap neck on the engine side.

Does this mean a blown head gasket? The Rad bottle was clean.

Reagrds.

If you use the search you'll find it to be a common occurence on the petrol engines, my 07 cupra has it from time to time due to short journeys a good run clears it!

I beleive its moisture collecting at the top. Not normally an issue. how much was there?

It does sound like it wasn't used very much for the last few weeks or so, and the moisture hasn't burned off. I wouldn't be that worried about it.

It was just after about a 20 min test drive, the white stuff was still very much on the cap?

It'll be those 20 minute test drives that put it there in the first place. It needs at least an hour of motorway driving, maybe more to properly get rid of it. Or 20 minutes of 'drive it like you stole it', but most sellers probably wouldn't like that!!
