It's a good idea as it slows the heat transfer from the head to the inlet manifold so you'll have cooler IATs for longer. You sandwich in between two OE gaskets so you get a good seal on the surfaces of the IM & head. £50 if I remember right.

Cheers.

Just been reading the thread in Badger5 section. Seems a very worthwhile mod indeed! We all strive for cooler IAT's :)

Yet more money to spend on the money pit that is the car..

I have one sitting in my room ready to fit, arrived on Monday :)

Just not got round to posting pictures yet, will do tonight ;)

Nice one, I was wanting some pictures of it before I go and order one :)

I've not seen it all fitted either, so if you want to take pictures of the fitting feel free mate.

Here are some pictures of the Phenolic Intake Manifold Gasket I bought from Badger5 to be put on when the polished manifold goes on. Comes with longer bolts too.

Its a lot thicker than I expected!

That gasket is thick indeed mate didn't think it was that much either judging by the pics!

Good news on the car. I'm sure you'll fall in love with it again, absence makes the heart grow fonder! And trains make you miss them even more!!

F'ing hate my train service at the mo. 2 delays this morning mid-journey, to give way to trains that we're late from miles away going into London.... Plus a screaming baby on my carriage right near me, all this today with a hangover was extremely hard to take. Although admittedly I wouldn't have driven to work if it was an option today going by the alcohol consumption last night!

I use the train all week and only get to drive mine at the weekend's, just make's it feel all the more special :D
Got a 3 day course in Reigate next week so 3 day's of driving bliss :D

If you have a magnet stainless is non magnetic
Stainless will have a smoother finish, BZP means bright zinc plated so you will see slight colour variations and rougher finish
Stainless always seems heavier to me too

Pretty smooth finish and quite heavy too. Its really small, but i think it has s.s printed on it. Will try find a magnet

What material is it made from? Does it do the same as a New South Power gasket for the Mk4 Ibiza 20vt lump ie. lower intake temps?

Phenolic is the material isn't it?

Yep, thats what its for. To stop the mani getting so hot from the block

Phenolic is the type of material but i believe this covers a few
I think Tufnol falls under the phenolic name but that doesnt look like tufnol
