My cambelts finally being done wednesday -

I will post the belts pictures up when the car comes back to me,

I have been naughty though,

6 year old LCR Running stage 2 mods original belt with 75k!

Chrissy

 Ive seen someones who was running stage 2 at he had a very heavy foot, wasnt changed for 68,000 miles and his looked fine when he replaced it

got mine done at 70k and the belt was frayed, the garage said that if it ran for a few more days it would have snapped...i was lucky lol

it was supposedly done before me but no stamp so im glad i got it done again!

At least you got proper use out of one. Try spending all that money and having only covered 18.5K

not long got mines done 64000 on a 2003 lcr on a stage 1 and the belt looked fine no splits :D but i was getting a bit of a squeeky bum about it :cartman:

its just a big fat money maker !!! wish there was something out there that would last much longer .... :)

A garage will struggle to make £100 out of what is a complicated and specilised job.

i'd rather spend £350 now as oppose to £2000 in 6 months time because of iggnorance.

The LCR belts were also rated to last 120k but tend to let go around 90k, good old VW group quality and over estimations.

What is the damage should the waterpump go? And are there 'warning signs' that it is going to happen?

just managed to wrangle Cam-belt and water pump in with the price of the car at 70k miles

Funny, I bought my LCR 18 months ago with the belt supposedly done, I checked with the only previos owner by gettin his number from the Tracker certificate...

To find its never been done, The garage told me to sod off initially but when I said Id drive the sodding car through their front showroom door if they didnt change it, they softly agreed Id buy the pump / belt and they would do the labour...

Just gotta push!

the engine can overheat and warp the cylinder head or the pistons expand rapidly and score the bores, which then disintigrates.

I suppose it depends were you go. I'v been to a place were they wont give a warranty on an engine that blew up in there compound after cash in some cases a lot of have been handed over ...

I was lucky to find a garage that believes that after sale customer service is important he is picking the car up tomorrow to replace the boot lock even though its not covered by the warranty
