• Hey Guest💡👉 We have just launched our new Dealer Directory and review service Find out more now
I've searched on how to do it, looks a bit daunting for a total beginner :D I'll clear the codes, take it for a drive and hope it goes away  If not then I'll bypass!

It'll come back if the N249 is faulty in some way bud. Get it bypassed ;)

But yeah clear the codes to start with and see what comes back.

I know, it's just my way of burying my head in the sand because I'm too scared to bypass it at the moment :) I will do it soon though, just need to make sure I know what I'm doing.

Just activated alarm chirp to value one, nice noise not too loud much easier than turning your head to see lights! Thought you had more than one option of sound though :(

I think I know why the n249 showed up as a fault. I changed my plugs over last weekend and drove about 30m down the road with the vacuum hose still off the top of the DV :D I took it for a blast yesterday and it didn't return any faults after clearing the first lot.

I think this month may be remap month for me. I'm torn between stage 1 AMD or stage 1 REVO and may need a push in either direction.

AMD

PROS - cheaper, RR, good rep and good figures.
CONS - 160 mile drive will cost more than a trip to REVO

REVO

PROS - very local (10 min drive), sounds like an aggressive map, £50 for stage 2 afterwards
CONS - no RR at the local place, more expensive than AMD.

Don't think I'll take it to stage 2 for a while. I have other things to spend money on for this Summer and think I'll settle with stage 1 and a badger/forge TIP.

Can anyone sway my decision either way?

Cheers

I'v got a stage 1 AmD map on mine and it's always made good power, I've also had NO problems relating to the map, I'v recently had a the map tweeked a bit to taking into account the 3" DP and 200cell cat and the FMIC.

I would say Revo, you have more flexibility with the settings etc, so anyone in the know about Revo can set it up to how you want it. Downside is it is more expensive but not that much more

How much did it cost to get it tweaked?

Do you have that flexibility with the stage 1 map? I thought stage 1's were all generic. If that's the case then that's good to know. The REVO place near me has no RR and I'd like to know what it's making before and after. Even though it doesn't really mean anything day to day.

That's the prob for me, my preferred choice would be the REVO but the fact it's £100 more and the sps is another £150 is putting me off. That's without tax! Can't afford that much really. Think I'll book myself into AMD this week, £300 including tax is a decent price with before and after RR. Cheers for the replies.

I've had both maps, albeit on different LCR's and i preferred the AmD map on my previous car. Much smoother, cleaner power delivery... although i hear Revo have updated their map.

They're both great maps and you'll be happy with either, but if it was my choice i'd have the AmD in a heart beat.

Yeh, that's the reason I considered REVO mate, I heard they updated the map. But I think It'll be AMD for me. Simply for the financial reasons and I can get it on a RR too. Cheers for the advice :)

I was going to go for a REVO map Tom as it was local to me as well, but decided against it in the end for the same reasons as you price and no RR.

Plus I heard that REVO maps were very aggressive and that wasn't really what i was after.

Ive been very happy with my map and it was a lot cheaper than the REVO.

Plus if you go to AMD you will have an amazing drive back :D

Didn't you go performance torque Nick? That's another one I was looking at but it's a bit far from me IIRC. My mind is made up with AMD now, going to book it in this week I think :D

Cheers for the reply.

Yeah I did get the P-Torque stage 1, def a great map for sure. It was a bit far from me as well but at the time I was looking it was recommend to me and when I found out the cost of it compared to the REVO it was a no brainer.

I'm sure you going to love the AMD map, it's going to make you fall in love with your car all over again, and you'll never look back :D

Tom what day are you thinking? I'm free from tomorrow till the end of the week so could pop over to AmD check out the car etc!

Don't start my new job until next Monday.

Well I can't book in for any earlier than the 11th according to their website, so was thinking of taking a day off next week sometime to go up there. Either that or try to go up this weekend, should get paid tomorrow so I'll be calling them up as soon as I have my monies! Car is looking ace BTW mate like the new pics.

Nick - just checked where p-torque are and it's about another hours journey. A shame because that was my first choice originally but I'm sure AMD will put a smile on my face still.

Tom ... My advice, never use the website, I know it seems silly as it's there for a guide, but I always call them up and ask for the earliest they can book in a map. Alot of the time there's cancellations and free slots where they can fit you in. I'd give them a call today if I was you. Or once your paid like you say :)

Just remembered the day I decided to get coilovers, I rung them at opening time and Ben said we've got them in stock and can fit you in today (this was a Weds) so I popped over and it was done! No waiting apart from the fitting! :)

Aye, I will call them up as soon as I get paid mate. I'm a contract worker so taking days off for me is fairly easy, but still a weeks notice is minimum I like to give otherwise I feel I'm taking the pi$$ a little bit. Can always go up later this week and work a bank holiday though to make up for it. Definitely want it done ASAP so I'll let you know :) Also a week day is preferable for me to avoid the weekend traffic.

Ah ok mate nice one. Yeah give me a shout on here if you can pop up later in the week and I'll pop upto say hello and check the car out. The eagerness to get the map is justified believe me, you'll be amazed when you drive it that 1st time post mapping! I couldn't get over it for a while, lol.

Cheers for the comment btw in earlier post!

I hope stage 1 is as pleasing as stage 2. It probably will be for me, my old car was a 1.4 rover with an almighty 83bhp :D I'm going to call time on the car after the remap and TIP for a month or two. Get myself some sort of campervan sorted for next summer, although I'm sure I won't be able to resist coilovers and a fmic for too long.

I'll let you know how I get on and cheers for the offer mate.
