yup pretty scared in a way to do anything 'random' at this stage not knowing much about the car tbh , ... asking the wrong person for gains or whatever i couldnt tell you , only think i noticed is slighter louder which suits me fine :)

Well the car got pushed to its limits today at crail on the 1/4 mile

Best time set on the car was 14.9 @ 95.7mph (set by my brother)

fastest time i got was 15.1 @ 95.5mph

was so good

There are three engine/gearbox mounts - the "dogbone" (underneath the car), one mount under the battery and another on the other side of the engine.

A lot of people just upgrade the dogbone (me included, I got an ECS one) but THS Performance do a full set called FR3. That's pretty popular on here too, although again you can buy just the dogbone or the side mounts separately. The full set was priced at around £150 I think, not sure what it costs now.

More track-oriented users sometimes go for kits from Vibratechnics or INA, I don't know a lot about theirs but a quick search in the mk1 Leon section should have a fair bit of info.

I found that just doing the dogbone made a fair difference, the car responds better to a good kick in the throttle as the engine doesn't squirm around as much, and less wheelhop under hard booting in lower gears. I may go for the THS side mounts at some point just to complete the set :)

so theres only 3 mounts i need for upgrading both the engine / transmisson ??

i was 100% going to get a dogbone mount but if there was a kit for say all i would just get haha to be lazy :p , how hard are the mounts to fit you know??

cheers :thanks:

I didn't do the dogbone myself, the car was going to have work done anyway so the garage did it for me but I understand it's a reasonable DIY job so long as you have a good, accurate torque wrench and a good pair of axle stands. The undertray has to come off which can be a pain in the ass.

The side mounts require ideally an engine hoist to take the load of the engine while you swap them as it's these two that hold the engine's weight, the dogbone is more just to stop it trying to spin around in the bay. I've heard of folk putting the front end up on ramps, sticking a jack under the engine with a block of wood in between and supporting it that way but I wouldn't if it was mine :)

And yes, it's just those three you need to change all the engine mount points (all the load-bearing ones anyway). THS used to do a discount for members of this forum, possibly worth dropping them an email first to ask ;)

think ill get the garage to look over it  but will see i do like a little DIY.

yeh had a quick read around the forums think ill at least email them first to see if i can get the code (if its still there).

1 more question , looking at options , 3" downpipe + Decat vs 3" downpipe + Hi-flow cat whats your view??

De-cat
Pros - Cheaper , Better flow?(im guessing)
Cons - Not road legal, MOT fail

Hi-Flow cat
Pros - MOT pass , road legal
Cons - expensive

cant think of any more as tbh i know very little o.0

If you know someone to sort your MOT... go decat ;)

I have a Milltek 3" full turbo back with 200 cell race cat, but would have no problems running a decat.

i may have which is good but need to proper ask first haha, do you know how hard it would be to change a cat over for a MOT? big job or?

also i have a Milltek turbo back resonated (so quiter) came with the car would this cause problems with a decat??

not much updates been in here for a while.... mainly because i havnt done anything yet

however ive got sitting at home , Badger 5 80mm TIP , Jetex Cone , Heatshield to fit (was suppose to be done 2 weeks ago bust wasy busy, so hopefully get it done this week).

alsong with fitting the above , i also went ahead and ordered the Forge 008DV .... i think im having problems with my 007P ... and tbh i dont know how long its been on , what sort of cond etc , (on the outside it has a chuck out of it and scratchs but al surface damage i guess , but i like new bits) so the the Forge 008 should also get fitted this weekend , i got it in Gunmetal Grey :)
