ah ok. well looking into brakes now, along with getting rid of the induciton kit & getting a pd160 intake along with a good panel filter, so...

good brake pads?
good vented, possibly drilled and grovved discs (all round)?
best place to try and track down TT brakes? (what else do i need besides the discs?)

& best panel filter to work with the pd160 intake?

yeah cheers mate!! all sorted, blocked off to & car is good. will be getting all sorted to turn it right down on the remap :)

are your tt brakes a big improvement on the old ones? also what pads you running?

i was thinking of rather than getting tt discs, get drilled and groved discs of the same size?

excellent

they are a big improvement yes, but, unless your going to go stage 2 and beyond for performance, dont both tbh, just get a good set of discs and pads, change the brake fluid etc for the 288mm setup and you will increase the stopping performance significantly.

Ive got standard oem 312mm discs which are going to be changed shortly and brembo pads, but really old and shitty brake fluid, great stopping power none the less, once i fix the brake fluid and discs it will be awesome but I will be needing it as I will be over 200bhp by then

So basically your saying just get better discs the same size with better pads?

Brembo? EBC? Mintex? What's the best?

If your not going any further than a stage 1 then yes. Mintex and brembo get the best reviews overall, black diamond are getting some really good reviews and would be my choice after a passenger ride in a furby vrs with them fitted (discs and predator pads) didn't fade after abuse. Not the cheapest but a good setup.

What about upgrading the size of the rear discs??

Was thinking of either getting Brembo Max discs or others that are grilled and groved with good quality pads.

Also I'm aiming for 200bhp (with a new turbo etc)

so your going the same route as me then, 200bhp is basically stage 2 (stg 2 = 210bhp) and at that level the 312mm brakes should be bought.

Discs wise brembo max are well recommended and look good as well.

So brembo max & brembo or mintex or ebc?

In order of popularity from what I can remember on here

Discs:

1.) Brembo Max
2.) Tarox
3.) Mintex
4.) EBC

Pads:
1.) Ferodo DS2500
2.) EBC red stuff
3.) Tarox
4.) Brembo

in terms to you rears (what you asked earlier) it will make no difference what you put on as the brake bias is heavily towards the front, just stick with the OEM setup,

Ah cheers for the tips :) I'll have a nose around. Best tyres too?

O god Can of worms that lol very much personal opinion and circumstances.

Hankook v12, Toyo proxes, falken fk452/912, goodyear eagle f1's, Yokohama parada (famous for how bad they are in the wet but how brilliant they are when dry....) Avon zz3 list goes on.

When it comes to.tyres pick 2 from the 3. Performance, Price, Longevity
As you wont get all 3 lol

Soft compound perform well but wear quicker

Hard compound last longer but noisier and in some cases don't perform as well.

Sorry I.can't help on that front

I have Yokohama Parada Spec 2's on mine and on my dad's Abarth. As Phil said, they are fantastic in the dry and last a while, but in the rain I manage to get a lot of wheel spin, even in the 1.2  But I suppose in wet conditions, anyone with half a brain will take it easy and give plenty of braking distance and not floor it on corners..

Well I've heard good things about toyo proxes.

Basically I'm after some good all round tyres with good wet grip that will last a reasonable amount of time. I know I'm not gunna get anything that will last a while if I'm after a performance tyre.

Basically the next few months (after I've come back from America) will be upgrading brakes, suspension and tyres :)

Think brakes will be the 1st place to start

Looking around for a pd150 turbo as my mate who had that vrs - well the turbo has just gone because of the increased power from the remap :( bad times!

Which shape Leon do I need to get the turbo from? The mk1 (1M) or mk2 (1P)?

Also sending my car to 200bhp I've heard it mentioned to get bigger injectors? Correct??

Obviously I'm wanting the pd150 turbo so that when I get my remap I'll have reliable power from the turbo and the engine overall - and the knowledge that it ain't gunna go pop!!

you will need a turbo from a PD150 car, so that would include leon cupra tdi (MK1) or golf GT TDi MK4 etc. to hit the 200bhp you will need supporting mods as the turbo alone will produce 180-190bhp, but they run hotter than the standard pd130 turbo so it doesnt drive as well without the other bits. I cant begin to describe how much better the car is to drive with the FMIC fitted with the PD150 turbo, its so smooth and even in the hot weather it still hasnt suffered from heat soak.

to achieve a good 200bhp you will need:
*PD150 turbo
*FMIC
*Exhaust (cat back would be fine iirc)
*Stage 2 map

All of that combined will give you 205-215bhp with about 320-340ft/lb torque so really you should change the clutch as well

injectors only need to be changed once you start trying to push beyond 250bhp without water meth
