Hi people, purchased my Lcr about 2 months ago, when I got it i noticed some oil leaking on to the engine which turned out to be from the rocker gasket! Now 6 weeks later i've got the same problem! Starting to think this car is going to be a nightmare! Has anyone else come across this on the Lcr?? Please help:(

I don't understand, did you repair it the first time?

Could be a cracked rocker cover, warped, anything. You can pick a rocker cover up for less than £20, so would'nt be worth repairing. But untill you stripped it down it could be anything.

Are you sure its not the VVT gasket (half moon shape) instead of the rocker cover.

Thats more common than the rocker cover.

Ov gotta do my rocker gasket as the dome seals have gone around the spark plug holes, but noticed oil leaking from the back right hand side, I'm guessing this is the half moon seal, how easy is it to be replaced?

Mine was leaking from the rear right side, It was the VVT half moon gasket.

Its not such a bad job if you have the right tool. You can do it without taking the cam out as well.

Mine looks like it part of the rocker gasket that has a half moon part rubber part of it or am I wrong?

See the half moon bit top right of the pic? That's where most of my oil is?

Yeah I thought as much I'm just curious where this other one is that people are talking about! Mine seems to be coming from the rocker gasket

the other half moon is on the same side behind the half moon you have taken a pic of.
that one is not apart of the rocker cover gasket.
if you replace the rocker cover gasket it should solve your problem as I had the same leak in that area

Hi mate, the oil appeared to be leaking from the half moon bit on the rocker gasket so the garage replaced it but its leaking from the same place!

Mine looked as if it was leaking from there aswell, But it was the VVT gasket that was leaking and running backwards towards the rear of the car, The back of the block was a mess.

If you look at the cam cover nearer the front you will see the tensioner solonoid which has a plug on it, The other gasket in under it,
Sits a bit further in.

The problem the first time was a small leak around the half moon area as other guys have also had, but seems strange for it to have gone in the same place again!

Was this an easy fix fella? I'm reluctant to pay the garage the labour charge if i could do it myself?

Perhaps it hasn't gone, Maybe the leak was never from there in the 1st place,

Oil will allways find its way to the lowest part of the engine and since these engines tilt backwards, the leak could well be further forward and running back as mine was.

On 1st inspection mine looked to be from the rocker cover gasket` but it wasn't.

Had a good look at it this morning and its definitely the vvt gasket that's leaking and not the rocker! Thanks for your help fella.
