What engine oil??

Hi all. First post so sorry if it's not in correct place or if it's been covered. After a week of my leon cupra 290 been stood while away I've come back to find oil on my drive. It's booked in for an inspection with SEAT but my oil is low and was wondering if anyone knows what oil to put in. I've looked it up and I'm getting 0w 30 or 5w 30 castrol edge. Advise on other oil or correct oil would be appreciated. It only needs topping up!!

I did and it mentions oil properties like vw 502 00. I'm assuming this matches up to the specification we see on the oil we buy off the shelf?

Correct. Match the spec to the label on the oil can and you're good. Either 502 00 or 504 00.

504 for petrol and 507 for diesel (I believe). I use Mobil 1 Esp oil 5W30. This covers both diesel and petrol engines.... £37 on amazon for 5L....

Yes, 504 00 is for petrol and 507 00 for diesel but they are always combined. Together these form the "long life 3" spec from VW, aimed at extended oil drain service in petrol and diesel.

502 00 and 505 00 are the equivalent in 'regular' oil drain interval.

Ok cool. Thanks for the info... How many miles is considered long life. I'm guessing regular oil drain is 10 000 - 12 000 miles.

From memory standard drain is 15,000 km or 12 months. Extended drain is actually variable, where the car monitors your driving and how the engine is used and tells you when to get a service, which can go up to 30,000 km or 2 years.

Ok. Thanks again for info. I change mine every 15000 regardless and reset using obd11...

But i will now keep an eye on the service reminder screen and see how that goes down compared to my actual mileage. Just for #*its and giggles.....
