View attachment 36532 Was trying to work out why my car always reported 5mph speed limit heading out of my town.
Think I worked out why..
Yeah I would imagine even from 30 it’s pretty lethal
It could be interesting if you ever have adaptive cruise control switched on when your car ‘sees’ that 5mph sign…….![]()
Perfectly ok that sign, it’s warning people of a 5mph limit on their premisesYeah I would imagine even from 30 it’s pretty lethal
I wonder if that sign is actually illegal but would be pretty petty to report it
i agree.. 5mph is minor annoyance and not somewhere i would use cruise control anyway.. i always used to have Waze on to beep at me when speeding and this is an upgrade on that for sure...One solution. I like the beeps but not the car reacting to them or white lines etc. Too easy to forget what speed you are going at so the reminders come in handy. Mixed village rural driving with speed officers lurking round the corner. Dynamically deployed on sunny days when people speed.

When the road is long and straight, I feel more comfortable with ACC, but of course I am in control of the speed. Problem is, it is not even recognizing correct signs at lower speeds. I was very excited about the traffic sign feature when buying the car, but it is pretty much useless. I don't know if it software issue or hardware issue.I'm a bit old fashioned and think the driver should control the speed of the car and read the speed limits.
Once the car reaches T1000 levels of smartness then sure let it change what I'm doing as a driver, otherwise no.
The only place I get wrong readings is in Europe off the back of lorries I'm following. My car is worse. Within the city, in a 50 km/h limit zone, it recognizes the road as highway and tries to push to 130km/h speed. Ironically, there is a fixed radar on that spot. Also, when driving in the highway, it sees speed limit for trucks (which is 80 or 60, depending on the hour), it slams the breaks. For my sanity and safety I disabled this "feature". Maybe I should go to court and accuse Seat/Cupra for attempting murder. Imagine driving on the highway with 130-150km/h and car suddenly pushes the breaks. Not a good sight.
