Updating the inbuilt Mib3 Satnav Offline

Well I never!
Uninstalled 7-Zip and reinstalled latest version. Downloaded nav file again and still no luck.
Tried it on a friend's Windoze 10 PC with same result!
Thought I'd give it a go on my Mac so downloaded the relevant programs and lo and behold it worked perfectly.
So looks like the pesky Windoze laptop can be confined to the bin as I don't use it for anything else.
Anyway, thanks for your help and assistance.
Think it's the pesky internal zip program Skoda use, if you aren't using the latest 7zip to unzip or the Windows internal program with the right click then it doesn't unzip correctly.

BTW

There is life in the old Windows 10 64 bit machines that aren't compliant with Windows 11 by installing Window 11 24h2 with the server command prompt. Older harder with non fancy drivers seem to cope well with the workaround. Got two 13 year old tower units happily on Windows 11 24h2. Newer compliant hardware does have some issue on the 24h2 update... still 25h2 to look forward to 😉. Because Microsoft re wrote Windows and imposed more strict driver requirements it became more problematic to update. Once on 24h2 moving to 25h2 should be easy since it's an incremental update.

Have a thread on that.

Still the good news is you have installed 25.06 map.

Hi Tell
My laptop is 64 bit with an SSD. Might give it a stay of ececution, though!
I put SSDs in these two old tower units and fully populated the memory. The other laptops are 2 in 1 HP fully compliant with Windows 11 so didn't need any tricks to get Windows 11 on them. The original were Windows 7, to 10, to 11. 12 ?... we'll see.

Hi all,

I also managed to install the latest DB update on my car, despite the Head Error in 7zip tool.
I just extracted the archive on a 64G USB stick and after my last trip (>2h) the version was changed to 25.6.

Good luck everyone

Probably the curse of the Skoda zip software. They do have a reputation for messing it up their end - may be it's not important. Checks are made to ensure that any old garbage files don't get introduced into the unit, so whatever it's moaning about doesn't effect the integrity of the import.

Certainly it unzipped fine for me without moaning. No errors.

Is there a way to know when update is "really" finished?
I noticed 25.6 in settings after 20 minutes already.
Activity/blinking on flash drive lasted for about 2 more hours and MIB was lagging a bit as well for that time, so the update was not completed in just 20 minutes I guess

It does update the map in segments of Europe. It's designed to do that for those using connect services. As you strike a route across Europe it updates the element of the map it needs. For connect service people you put a destination in across Europe and it will pull down the parts it needs to update.

My guess with the offline update the 25.6 probably means it's done the part you are in. Ive forgotten the numbers of parts but I determined it from the file. You can't mess with these file.

So I reckon if you got a led based USB just leave it in till the light stops flashing. The instructions are vague. It will be multitasking why you'd get a lag.

Your explanation makes total sense.
Yeah, just leave it a few days, why not.
Wouldn't be surprised if even their engineering guys couldn't read the progress somewhere, it's a little blackbox after all 😆

I was just mentioning the lag because LED + slow system made me be confident, it is still not completely finished

In reality I don't need whole EU to be up to date, but knowing EVERYTHING is completed is just fulfilling 😂

This time round with Mib3 they have been carefully enough to lock down the developers menu so you can't see what's going on. Mib2 high I do my map updates through the developers menu so you see the file progress. Clamping down on end user meddling you dont get to see such things. Those people running on the bench with Vag tools may or where the chip set programming has been meddled with. Hardly worth the trouble thou for map updates now it's free.
