I have a Seat Leon and am encountering the infamous 'Please wait...' screen while trying to become the primary user. This is preventing me from updating the software and using the Seat app on my phone. I have asked my local dealer and they are charging an extortionate amount to 'diagnose' it (£140). Is this something the dealer can fix and if not what am I supposed to do? Located in the Brighton area.

The software versions are as follows:
Hardware: H56
Software: 1896
Display unit/control panel hardware: H37
Display unit/control panel software: 3074
Navigation database: 19.7
Media codec: 3.1.4
Radio database: 1.30.30

Many thanks

Make sure you are signed in as the Additional User on the App. The App gives the same permissions to that user as the Primary, with the exception of App features like find my car etc. So long as the Green light on the Emergency Call light is on it will update (so SEAT tell me). Should be the same for all models.

You may need to get in touch with SEAT Tech support with video of the issues with Primary User. I hope you are under warranty as the fix is not cheap and requires a donor 5f unit.

Ah wait you mean like that.
Only way is to sent email to seat service team. And let them reset/delete the account.

I know i saw is somewhere mentioned in the oast to fix this kind of problem. But unknown if that was on dutch forum ir facebook

I take it you have 2 working keys? This was the same error when I collected the new car and the salesperson reckoned the Seat servers were the issue and try the next day. When I got home, realised one of the keys didn't lock/unlock the car although it lit up. 2 weeks later new key and I was registered...made sure before I left the dealer this time!!

In my case its something the previous owner has not done, they were still registered as the Primary User when I bought the car from the dealer, Then 6 weeks later they disappeared as the PU in a fit of technical goings on that didn't make sense - ie the car had unlocked the boot, turned off the reversing camera and disconnected me as the additional user....

Sounds like the original PU was messing, but whether they did or did not damage the 5f unit is down to SEAT to find out, they could have screwed up the programming by downloading a non authorised third party app at a guess. Sort of wishing I had the Grey Arona Ltd Edition with 7k on the clock rather than red with 1267...

Whatever I will find out this week, I'm getting a loan car for the week whilst they hopefully repair the faults and they have been told they will get the car back if they can't get a fix done !

Providing the system is working correctly, all you need to do to remove any trace of the current primary user and guest accounts is set the privacy to minimum and reset the infotainment system to factory settings.

If that goes through successfully you should have a decent shot at getting your profile synced up.

Ive got a nice automatic MY26 Black Edition FR Arona as my loan car. 10 miles on the clock when I set off this morning. Took a few miles to get used to the Auto, but drives real well.
Thing to note is the tyres are different to my MY25 FR Ltd - Hancook Vetus are now Pirelli P7's - the tyres feel different when driving, they feel more substantial.

Also added to the repair list was the wipers that judder all the time even with new blades, Told them the wiper bolts might be loose.

Hi,

I had the same problem, using same software as you. I updated mine manually to 1940 by downloading the file from this guys MEGA...link in description

Afterwards i could register primary user and now my software has been updated OTA to the latest software 1988.

Hope this helps

For anyone wondering how to resolve there isn't an easy way.
I bought a 2021 Leon FR sport 3 weeks ago and experienced multiple issues straight away.
I'm a Tech for ford so although I'm knowledgeable about the MiB3 as its used in the transit connects I don't have an ODIS as those use FDRS.
I gave up and booked in to a specialist, lucky I don't have to pay as I recently bought the car used from my employer which is also why I'm dealing with a specialist as I have the authority to send defective used cars to another shop and authorize repairs.
The specialist called me and it sounded like he was crying.
He said the car refuses to update even with a genuine ODIS.
To be clear it refuses to update over USB or OBD.
As the OTA is pending although refusing to install he cannot get the car into a state to accept the update.
He now has 2 options.
Force the update which has a 50/50 chance of bricking the module or just replace the module.
Tomorrow he is going to force the update if the module dies I've authorised a replacement.

This can be expensive if you are paying.
I'm also annoyed at Seat. Ford has a recall for this issue making sure all customers have it repaired for free. Seat don't which forces you to pay if your vehicle is out of warranty.
My advice if your vehicle is within its warranty. Take it to a Seat dealership.

Also I don't believe it a wise idea to download software from an untrusted source. Its probably safe however its unlikely to be up to date.

I whole heartedly agree with Mabos on this. If your car is under warranty take it to SEAT, don't use downloads as work arounds, they may work, but they break something else.

Mine has been in since Monday and yesterday I had two emails from SEAT, one welcoming me to SEAT and the other telling me the car has been disenrolled. However a quick check on the VIN showed it wasn't my car. Makes me think the dealer has tried a known working unit from a donor car to check that works and will probably install the new unit today or when they get one.

They've logged into another vehicle to test your profile is live. If they donor a unit (infotainment or SOS module) it will assume the identity of the vehicle it's fitted to, it won't carry across the VIN.
