Hi all,

Heads up on current production problems, the dealer called me in for a meeting regarding the Formentor I ordered in January. There are problems with certain features, my Beyond version (Spanish variant) was meant to have Kessy and Virtual Pedal but has been produced without these features. They are being very fair by offering a further discount of €3.500 that is more than these features actually cost but a little annoying. They were however a little evasive as to the reason, I immediately thought chip shortage but they wouldn't confirm one way or the other.

I wondered what would happen if customer wants to cancel the order at that point. Would they push you to go with it using some fine print in sales agreement or accept to cancel it unconditionally?

Also, if it wasn't a production line mishap and there's really a parts shortage for some features, they should be warning customers who are about to order a car now. I would be querying other dealers about that as if I'm going to place an order.

The dealer has been very fair, the original contract was terminated and a new one created detailing the revised spec, I wasn't pressured and could have had a refund of the deposit and walked away. However, given that this problem is, according to the dealer, affecting all production, I took the view that I could live without these features as I didn't want to wait until who knows when for delivery.

I'd say you're in luck. My Virtual Pedal is nothing more than an opportunity for me to stand and the back of my car on one leg, waving the other one frantically in the air, with absolutely nothing happening. It's quite embarrassing, actually.

waving the other one frantically in the air

Waving how?
From side to side, or back to front?

It should be like a kick from back to front. A woman who happened to work in a SEAT/CUPRA dealer once parked next to me and saw how I was struggling to get it right, then showed me the kick and a step back. Since then it worked beautifully almost every time.

So you kick the car and the boot opens? ;)
Does it work in the dark - think I'll go out and give it a go. Must admit I've been waving my leg from side to side, because that's what the salesman told me to do.

UPDATE: - It only flippin' worked!!! Thank you! From now on, I'll make the car think I'm about to kick it and the boot will open :)
