1.4 sport - engine light then car lost power, wont start.

Calling on the wisdom of other owners for suggestions of what could be wrong.... (want to have a better idea of what *could* be wrong as I've never used the garage that recovered the car... don't know how much they would want to try it on).

-Drove 180 miles from my folks back home
-3 miles from home the engine light came on, engine started loosing power straigh away
-reached the nearest parking bay and stopped.
- car wouldn't start, it sounds as though the starter motor spins but the engine doesn't pick up.

Coil Pack set on fire!

Turns out one of the coil pack had set on fire, and took out some of the wiring, blew the fuse to the ECU (hopefully not the ECU).

I haven't got to see how bad the damage was but asked for them to keep the old coil pack.

Seems I've been stitched up, £250+vat to replace coil pack + wiring or £90 to replace fuse and diagnose coil pack failure.

To update with closure with a couple of pics.

The "fire" and damaging "engine loom wiring" is more like "hot" and "melted connector" to me. On one hand £250 seems a little steep, on the other I've got my car back.
