I own a 2023 Arona FR equipped with the H59 module. I spent a lot of time trying to activate wireless CarPlay, while most retrofit shops wanted high fees to fix it.

My main issue: whenever I tried enabling WLAN or the Hotspot, it instantly toggled back off (even though I had enabled the corresponding menus via OBDeleven).

The fix turned out to be completely unexpected.

Due to regional 5 GHz Wi-Fi regulatory restrictions, the MIB3 unit must verify its location via GPS before allowing 5 GHz broadcasting. Since my factory unit lacked a GPS feed, I simply purchased an aftermarket GPS antenna/module, plugged it into the back of the MIB unit, performed a hard reset, and drove for about 5 minutes. The unit locked its location, and wireless CarPlay immediately started working smoothly!

I never have a. GPS Signal by my mib 3 Test ihr the Car, also No OCU, and every time Android Auto / Car Play Wireless works perfekt

For anybody who wants to try it what GPS antenna / module did you buy,

Thanks. That will be helpful for anybody who wants to try it.

I believe this is an associated thread but that is for the H57 unit. H59 without the sat was yours but assuming the process was similar but you needed that aeriel as well. I'll pin it to help others.

I did have a look at the 5ghz bands to see whether Turkey had more limited ones. The wiki table didnt seem to reveal much but it might not have been correct. Wonder whether the aeriel being plugged in gives it a kick to come to life to switch on that upper band.

I know my home WiFi which is a tri band mesh I use a backhaul frequency which is a military reserved one which BT equipment in the UK don't use. So I get the backhaul to myself. The other second 5 ghz frequency for the main connection itself isnt used by BT equipment either. You pick your frequencies for clean wifi least in the home setting 🤣. 5ghz doesnt travel so far but keeping it clean is helpful. There isn't much military equipment round here except the odd low flying aircraft and that jump jet F whatever positioned itself 200 metres away. Racket, resonated the walls till it moved off. Decorators next door nearly fell off their ladders.

If on Android there are apps which gives you the spectrum of what's being radiated on WiFi locally by channel.... some smartphones dependent on how they are setup dont cover all the band. There was one issue on the other thread where it wasn't seeing the 5ghz band the AAW back channel was being radiated on.

Thanks for pinning the thread, hopefully it helps out other H59 owners!

You're spot on about the antenna giving it that necessary 'kick'. The WLAN option was actually already visible in my MIB unit's menu, but whenever I tried to toggle it on, it would instantly turn itself back off. It seems it just needed that physical hardware connection; as soon as I plugged in the GPS antenna, it stayed active and the 5GHz band fired right up.

I had a good laugh at your jet story! As someone working in IT, I know the pain of configuring mesh networks and hunting for clean 5GHz channels all too well. Luckily, things are a bit quieter around my place—no jump jets rattling my windows yet!

That's a great shout regarding the Wi-Fi analyzer apps. I'm actually an iPhone user, so I don't have access to those detailed Android analyzer apps due to Apple's network restrictions. However, I'll see if I can find a workaround (like using the AirPort Utility scanner or borrowing an Android device) to check exactly which 5GHz channel the backhaul is using over here and share the results. Cheers!

It was an F35b. Two of them back to back. As long as his sister doesn't bring her commercial jet low we are alright. The village knew who it was. First time it's happened although we have had mock dog fights over the house. It's a training area. We do get missiles released on the coast which reach super sonic speed before hitting the target being towed by a drone. Nearly fell of the coast path when that happened. A local told us what it was after. Testing range further on. The big planes flying over are practicing for beach ⛱️ landing since you never know when you might have to ;). The separation of the tourists to the landing area isn't very great. All fun... the tanks aren't live firing during the holiday period... they miss that one.

On the aerial as you say it probably selects the allowed WiFi bands based on the country of use. Nothing till its plugged in.
