No other real damage, so yes very lucky, just slightly down on compression and a very slight dink in the oil squirter and piston. Piston was sitting about 1mm lower on cyl 3.

No way, luck of the draw i guess some people are fine others are not, caught it in time though how did he know there was an issue???

It had a minor misfire on boost, new plugs, new coil packs still didnt cure it, compression test revealed that they were all within 3/4psi of each other, then cyl 3 was 15psi down.

so is the bast way to check with a compression tester, if i check mine at weekend and one compression is massively different to the rest its a bent rod?

It can be a bit of a tell tale if they're all pretty much the same. dont take it as gospel, the tapping was very light as you can imagine. thats why I Pulled the sump off to look for a squirter but noticed the small mark on no.3 that wasnt there on any others.

Scary stuff, I guess some folk are just unlucky. I'll be getting compression tests done regularly from now on.

Hes had it about a month, when i went in it a few weeks ago it felt 'alright' nothing really spikey tbh. he didnt have a boost guage or anything so cant tell you what it was running, but i wouldnt have thought it was that much.

As for mileage. 81,000.

Any idea of the map on the car?

From those figures it seems similar to the "old" LCR remaps from APR, Revo, Jabba etc.

Lucky to have caught that in time :)
