What do you mean by leaverage? From simons post it seems more about fading then stopping power, in which case get better discs and pads at the same time.

Reason why i am asking is because i am going to be doing my car soon :)

brake fade and stopping power are connected standard ibiza brakes get pretty hot very quickly .
leaverage is greater because you the caliper is further away from the center of the hub = more efective grip on the disk

The other advantage of larger diameter discs is that they have a lower tendancy to snatch and lock if you brake suddenly.

Because the disc is bigger diameter the disc is passing through the pads at a faster speed and so less likely to snach.

talking about snatching and locking wheels.

the ibiza cupra system is dyer.... i know ur not ment to brake and turn at the same time but i mean going up a slip road the car just dont want to stop and thats a minimal turn and the abs dont work proper u can jam them on in the wet

is the abs light ment to come on when ur sliding and abs engages?

Does the 312mm setup fit underneath the 16" steel spare wheel that comes with the (older) FR? I know it fits under the 16" alloys, but I'm wondering if anyone's tried them under the steel spare?

its suposed to fit under the spare as well not tried it but 100 percent sure it does

I have done this mod on my audi a4 and all i needed was carriers and discs.
Today i looked at my 2002 tdi 130 ibiza, it will definitely need new calipers for this sole reason:

- The 312mm carriers on the tt etc come of ATE calipers.
- The 288mm calipers on the ibiza are Lucas and are totally different. So no swapping of the carriers

Hope this solves the argument for good.

The 312mm setup did fit under the 16" steel spare that my 03 TDI Sport had :)

I found out one morning when I burst a front tyre on a small rock, as I was jacking the car up in the dark & rain, I started to wonder if I would have to shuffle wheels around, but no it went on fine.
