Their not allowed to do that at all now. EU Directive.

Get it done at an indy (they can do warranty work too) next time as it will save you a lot of money

Oldman, I'm originally from down that way but out of touch with garages in the area. IIRC there used to be a fella out near Oswestry that was a VAG specialist but that was back in the late 90's and I had an Audi 90 20v.

I used to use town walls garage (I think it was called) up by the old eye, ear and throat Hospital and they were excellent but I think the old fella that owned it died a few years back.

Any piccys of your Mexico? I had one of those too but that was back in the mid 80's, mine was Daytona(?) Yellow with a lumpy cam, K&N and rejetted 32/36 Weber.

Pity about the bumper, it comes all at bloody once doesn't it

just had a 70k service, cambelt and mot (needed a new wishbone arm and bushes)
all in it cost me £440
I dont have a warranty to preserve either but i dont have time to wash it some weeks never mind service it

Mowgli, TownWalls is all closed own now, can't remember when but was quite a while ago.
The pics I have of her are after an accident i had, but i'll try and dig some from before then!

yep it always does, but i'll know more on Sat when work is done and may go back as they do the all on a saturday which means i don't loose a day holiday, just upset the gf, can't have it all......

ah fatbloke, music to my ears. i'd also love to wash mine, but no time and in footy season she just gets covered with the miles i end up doing

well got my car back two days later as needed new stress member fitting as well, none in stock s had to order.
they didn't do the bonnetseal, should be in post!
they didn't do the splitter as no official holes, should be getting credit back!!

other than a slight lack of communication, all good and can't tell old bumper was ever removed - spot on job

I paid £275 for a 40k at stealers in West Yorkshire last year, had to go to stealers due to warranty also. Afetrwards (silly me! ) got my brother in law to get quote from dealer where he lived in Lancaster and got quoted £230!!

Like anything shop around.

You dont have to go to the dealers to protect your warranty, the law was passed a few years ago. Anyone vat registered will do.

Hi just thought i would addd that im due for my 40k service on my lcr and was quoted £350 inc vat from my local stealers, mentioning no names (barlows wolverhamton) Ahem!!

I live in the historic market town of bridgnorth and my nearest vag is a vw and skoda dealership.

phoned up skoda and they said they could do it as its pretty much the same as their octavia rs and quoted £250 inc vat and i also said if i provide them with discs and pads how much extra would it be, they said they would put them on with no extra charge.

What a brucie!!

Although they did say the main difference is the labour charge which depends on which area you live in.

When the work is done ill report back with recomendations

Well there shouldn't be any difference in the cost of the servicing of an FR (Petrol) to LCR as they are the same car with the same engine (ok different turbos but near enough) which in turn shouldn't be any more than a TDi FR etc etc

I'm originally from Oswestry. Any idea where the VAG specialist is/was? i could take a trip down there and see if he still exists.
