I used to get some great MPG figures.

Since the mufflerectomy I'm well down on figures, just got to half tank full and I've done 170miles, thats with no thrashing whatsoever.

Don't think owt is wrong with car, must be down to the fact my turbo starts spooling at 1350RPM instead of the 1600RPM before mufflerectomy.

Looks like i'm going down the piper CAT-back route when they make one :)

Well I did vent the tank. Got an extra 10 - 15 litres in I think which makes all the difference. I'll put it to you this way - the tank was on 1/4. I filled it up with £30. Took it to between 3/4 and full. When I went to fill it up to vent it - it was on 3/4 tank and i got £30 of fuel in again.

Not convinced. My calculations were based on T sparks mates 53 litres which to me sounds plausible. There is no way you could fill an extra 2 to 3 gallons over and above the tank. It is not possible. An extra gallon and a half I could appreciate as acheivable.

Prove me wrong please!!!!

So matey's 53 litres would require him to acheive an mpg figure far greater than the official urban combined figure of 65.7mpg. As we all know these are not really acheivable in the real world and are based on ideal test conditions.

He would also had to run totally dry to even hit 800 miles let alone exceed it as insinuated in your posting (417 miles with over half a tank left).

Sorry. :roflmao::snack:

Unless you can prove to every one that you can fill nearly 60 litres (as you suggested) in your Beeza tank and achieve the official extra urban mpg and exceed 800 miles on that tank. I don't think that anyone will beleive you.

I remember a thread a year or so ago about a guy who reckoned he could easily hit 700 mile in his tank with a Leon. He was ostracised by forum members.

On a recent trip down to York over 80 miles in glorious weather, driving no faster than 70mph with no traffic jams saw 72.3mpg on my computer in the beeza. The computer could be optimistic like - only way to be sure is to brim, drive, record mileage, rebrim, put litres into gallons and divide miles by gallons.

If the computer is to be believed, I've averaged 56mpg over the last 1500 miles. Not bad.

Indeed.
The only way i could hit 700 from my leon is if the wife towed me half the distance![B)]

Really? 700 miles may be difficult (impossible?) but I used to get about 620 miles out of a tank in my old mk1 Leons on a run...best ever was 630 miles on a round trip to Cornwall.

When I had the Fabia vRS, I had a run down to Ipswich from the North East.
Don't know how many miles it was now, but it was a lot!!!
Mostly motorways cruising (80mph) with a couple of A road blasts & we worked it out to be 62mpg.

My daily run to & from work was averaging 50-52mpg.

Can't get any better than 49mpg from the Leon, although it is a lot better with the new map.
With the weather warming up, I noticed the economy drop further due to the extra use of the climate control.

Stew, good luck with move to Oz!! :)

Back from the dead
I usually get 18 miles from full before our needle starts to move south towards empty.

The other day I drove from Gatwick to home and back again (about 180 miles), and to fill back up cost me £30 exactly (to the brim). I drove like a nun, and mostly motorway using cruise NEVER exceeding 60mph. I returned:

33.904 MPG
24.21 litres used
180.4 miles driven
£30.00 petrol bill (minus £4.50 V-Power voucher)

This is the absolute best I can do. New tyres, recently serviced etc.

Your figures make me weep, but at the same time having owned a TDi FR in the past and having vented the tank I never got over 580 miles.

Cheers Jon for the well wishes :)

The PD130 with its 6 speed box always had the possibility of better mpg than the older non pds so your figures sound about right.

Usually average low-to-mid forties but with fuel prices the way they are I'm driving like granny & figures now are more like high forties to mid fifties.

Highest ever seen was 57.8mpg on the way home from work week before last. Driving at 65mph in the slow lane is no fun though....

Is it me or is there more people doing the same recently? Nowadays I see very few tanking along at 80mph+ in the fast lane, go back 12 months and everyone was out there like a freight train!

yeah agreed, i was bombing past a lot more much better cars in the old diesel golf yesterday on the motorway, i thought they must be saving fuel. Whereas at the moment as im about to leave i dont care.
