thats anazing, will be awesome even though ur not fitting it for ages.
i have new gaskets to fit when i put the turbo back on

It will be, all good things come to those who wait, or have enough money to do it straight away! TD said they supply all needed gaskets, but I think they mean for oil to the turbo, and exhaust. But i'll find out if they include new manifold gasket, if not I'm sure it won't be too bad for one from vw, seat , etc... Did you use a new manifold gasket when you initially fitted your turbo? Just wondering how the gasket broke up? don't want it to happen to mine!

it was new yes, i think it might have been a dodgy gasket to be honest, and when you get your new turbo they will send you new gaskets for manifold, egr and oil stuff. you will be covered :)

O rite i see, I'm just bit worried beacause when I fit the turbo, and leave it disconected when it opens it will allow unfiltered air in, but Ive just thought while typing this, I can just disconnect the vacuum pipe to it, as it defaults shut. I might just leave it for a bit then. Cheers for help mate.

well the egr, takes it feed from the exhaust manifold, If you blank of the manifold, the egr valve on the inlet, when it opens to let in what it thinks is exhaust gas it's actually letting in air from the atmesphere, but if the vacuum pipe which opens it is disconnected it can't get open.

ok so guys good news, got my turbo on and its great....i personally think that the turbo that blew was faulty from the day i fitted it as i was getting too much lag, now its much more punchy and feels so much better. still running it in so will get it mapped for the end of the month and see what it is capible of!!

I just got my new hybrid turbo from td today, got a few questions though, which i'll be asking them tomorrow, but for now if you can help me, No.1 when I pick the turbo up I can hear a rattle, there is no play in the shaft, and it's nothing on the outside of the turbo. It sounds like it's coming from the middle of the turo, any ideas? Also the green slip which came with it says its a md376, however on the garret plate on the turbo it says vnt15, I thought this turbo started of as a vnt 17, or gt1749vb? I'll be ringing td tomorrow but any ideas?

Ok firstly there shouldn't be any rattle...I would get that checked before putting it on. Secondly it should be the gt17,not 15,the 15 is off the pd130 and the 17 is off the pd150 or 160bhp one.might be a mistake but definitely call them up.
I just came back from a run on the car and I'm getting a loud whistle or screeching sound just ay boost, sounds like an air leak but not sure. Anybody have any ideas?

Right well rang up TD this morning, and asked them about the rattle, they said it would be the vnt mechanism, making the noise and this was normal. Also asked about the vnt 15 being stamed on the sn plate, this is done by garret, and it refers to the bearing housing size. the actual garret part number stamped on the side was correct for a pd 150 turbo well at first i thought this wrong as well, but the new ones have a different number which I've checked and is correct (new garret part no. 721021-5006s old garret part no.721021-0001), also when i turned the compressor wheel by hand it felt tight in places on the housing, They said that when there is no oil pressure the shaft is not sitting properly and this is what is causing this as the shaft is moving very slightly, but when there is oil pressure it will float and sit perfectley. and wont catch.
Also the turbo was tested and is all within allowed tolerances on green slip. and is a md 376 so should be ok. I got all gaskets needed which is good, but i'm going to get new oil feed and return lines from vw/seat and new seals for the vag crappy connections just so that all is good for the turbo. don't want any leaks but probably will get some.:(
on your whistleing noise, its probably just a boost leak, are you using standard cupra pipework? when i fitted fmic with forge pipework, even on standard turbo it leaked. I fairly sure when i fit this turbo it will leak, I was looking on the mkivs website, they make up some clips which hold the vag connections together, I might do the same. But i'm hoping when I first fit the turbo the new seals in the vag connections will do for a bit. just need to get my clutch sorted now. When i fitted my new sump the other night was eying it up, the clutch doesn't look to bad a job to do. Just need more money now! good luck with yours mate:)
