That's for a mechanical gauge ie the oil is sent down that tube to the gauge, i woudln't want oil inside the car anywhere.
Use the electrical sender version.

Nev,

2 options, get a new sump plug with a hole in the middle that the sensor screws into, or where the oil filter screws onto the block there is a small blanked hole (with allen key slot in the top) that can be removed & sensor put in there. This is where people talk about checking threads!!

Hope that helps!

thanks mate, think i have orded the wrong one, bugger,

got this one, BY5741 Oil Temp 140o-280oF and think i should of got this one. BY5748M Oil Temp 60o-150Oc

Not sure what length the sender is but if you are going to put it in the hole beside the filter which I see as the easiest be sure and put a few washers on it as it doesn't appear to be that deep. The autoguage one I put into the car was too long and I put it in without washers and it cracked. Just a heads up.

If you know the thread size you can get a drilled and taped sump plug, thats what I did with mine.

I have the metric autometer gauge and it took a while to find somewhere that sold them.
But mine is electric and the thread is the same as the spare port by the filter.
