UPDATE - linear map installed - STAGE 1 LCR
So this new map gives a 1 to 1 ratio on throttle - meaning if you request 30% throttle, you'll get exactly that (the previous map may have requested 38/39% instead of being more accurate)
OLD MAP - When applying HALF to FULL throttle on the old map, i felt as if there was no difference in boost, Its as if the turbo had run out of beans because all the power had already been requested in lower throttle.
First impressions on linear map:
When on quarter/half throttle, the car doesnt seem to be doing much, seems to be bobbing about doing nothing really (proving that the map is only requesting exactly what my right foot wants)
This could be very good for my MPG, time will tell.
Full Throttle.
When giving the full beans, the car seems to be acting much more ALIVE.
Dont get me wrong, im not saying im crashing through tescos express or anything, but it feels the power delivery from the turbo is much more healthy n feels more powerful. hmm.
the KEY word here is CONTROL.... you have so much better control over the boost its unreal. For that reason alone, this new linear map is a must!
Performance.
When giving the beans, im finding more torque steer which is a nice feeling tbh,
for this reason i decided to get my liquid guage out and record my Torque levels.
Max Torque on old map (this was from 2 years of testing n logging) = 280 (boost 7 Timing 4)
Max Torque on new map (this was from 3 WOT runs last night) = 294 (boost 7 Timing 4)
an increase in 14 torques and im only running boost 7. i could up it to 8 or 9 and see what happens at a later date.
i dunno, i have no idea why im getting better performance, but like i said, the power delivery seems so much more healthy and now its outputting more power too. nice.
- Is this further proof that these k04s love progressive power requests? perhaps one of the tecchys here could answer this?
will do some more testing on MPG etc, higher boost levels. blahs.
