"hello, is that Watchdog?"

SEAT UK.... wake up and smell the coffee!

A VERY common problem to have melted fuse's on this relay plate on top of the battery. YOU KNOW THIS.

Denial is acceptance of guilt.

Litigation is ripe these days.

Yep, mine was replaced under warranty, and the dealer said it was a known problem, caused by the radiator/AC fans drawing too much current or something.....

Definitely give them a call, and when you're on the phone, mention "Trading Standards" and "not fit for purpose" see what they say to that ;)

the dealers "know" about this as they swap the parts and VAG will know about this as there will be a series of claims on the same part...

its well known.... but they deny most things !

so its caused by the radiator fans then?, why doesnt the fuse just blow if it draws to much current?

Surely if you all club together you stand a better chance of being listened to?

Ill tell my dad to put a post on here too, his fuses were corroded too, so he replaced them, theyve been fine ever since but anything can happen as we have seen here.

Glad the fire was caught early, some of you mk3 owners won't be this lucky that your parked in a public place where your car can be seen:(

I would take this very seriously and start phoning or writing letters for sure if this was my Lupo.

Best of luck

Have you tested the car on vagcom? Ask the insurance how much they want to buy the car back as I'll have it off you as to be honest theres very little damage there compared to a crash.

Insurances don't iike fire damages and most of the time they will write it off, personally wouldnt have gone through the insurance. Hope your over 21 as if not insuring another Cupra will cost £1700+ once theres a claim to your name, fault or not fault!

Sorry about the fire!

I should think everyone knows this anyway!

If you do have smoke or if its become that bad flames coming from under the bonnet heres some advice

STOP.

Switch off engine.

Release bonnet BUT DO NOT OPEN!

Get everyone out of the vehicle.

Get far away from the vehicle and stay away.
Keep onlookers and others away.

Dial 999 and call the Fire Brigade.

If you believe it is safe to do so, attempt to put out the fire with a dry powder or foam extinguisher. With a fire in the engine compartment, DO NOT OPEN the bonnet, but aim the dry powder or foam through the radiator grille or under the edge of the bonnet. Use with caution and IF IN DOUBT, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO TACKLE THE FIRE.

Warn on-coming traffic.

never use water on an engine fire – it can short out wiring and spread burning fuel with disastrous effect.

In all vehicle fires, the first thing to think about is PERSONAL SAFETY; any vehicle can be replaced – people cannot.

Cheers
