Ah it all makes sense you working to a budget on the tyres if you are trading her in January. I saw my first new Ibiza being delivered the other week while I was having some warranty work done. It was orange but looked good. I've not seen a picture of the new Ibiza FR/Cupra - I liked the original concept (Bocanegra) so lets hope it is close to that! :D

My fuel economy has increased since removing the rear seats and I would swear by Shell V Power. I can do 37+ MPG easily on a long run and average around 32 just going to work and back locally. This drops down to 15.2 on the track though which still isn't bad!!

The nice thing about the diesels is the tunability of them. A ladt at work has just added soe box to his Astra CDTi and took it from 150 to 200ish BHP and he cant stop smiling now! It was only a plug in thingy too! Wish it was that easy on the petrols. :D

I agree completely Andy!!! When i first saw it I was blown away and even considered getting one! The agressive stance, the lights and even the colour does it for me. :D

I have no idea what happened between this design and the one for the Ibiza i just pray that they pull all the stops out on the cupra.

I was tempted to get a Cupra K1 but the body kit serves no purpose other than to look good (very good actually) and that is a shame. How hard would it be to have made the vents on the front and rear do something (rather thanbeing blocked up) and the spoiler generate additional down force but these things are delibrately engineered not to alter the performance figures of the donor car as it means resubmitting the vehicle for some form of approval.

My ideal would be to be able to buy the BTCC version of the Leon! They look so good!!! I spoke to the dealer and you can buy ex race cars and BTCC cars but they are expensive.

I look forward to seeing some spy shots of the new Ibiza Cupra :D

Agree entirely !!! - would be nice !. Just hope when the time comes for me to get one that i can get one similar in looks to those above ! (but i bet i can't !). Then again, i love the looks of even the basic new style Ibiza, just want something more powerful and with a bit of body work !. The Ibiza should be lighter than the Leon so even the engine doesn't need to be as powerful, as long as the 0-60mph figures are good.

I did hear the new style Ibiza Cupra only had a 1.4 litre engine, but it was super charged, giving it 0-60 in 7.4 sec !! WOW !

How true !! - unfortunately the kids don't excuse me from getting up early just because it's a Sunday !!

Yep, it's is the twin charger from the Polo, not sure where i read that, but i definitely did read it. Think it's gonna be a nippy little beast ! - i think they are due out in January so (fingers crossed) if nothing more goes wrong with my Leon Cupra then i'll wait till i can pick up a second hand Ibiza Cupra/FR, maybe around June/July next year. If things start going wrong with my car sooner then i might have to get a decent deal with a new Ibiza Cupra/FR !!

Andy

He he - I don't have to worry about the kid thing yet!

I have only heard good things about the engine but it's not a diesel!!! :D

I reckon you will be able to pick up a nearly new one June/July for a good price - seems little point nowadays getting a new car especially with used prices taking such a bashing at the moment.

Yeah, think it works to our advantage getting a 6 month old secondhand one. When i bough my Leon Cupra it was only just over a year old and i got about £3500 off new list price (and cash-back of £2000 !), so i did really well then, hoping i can get a similar deal when i come to trade in !

Think the new Ibiza FR will be about £14k, and the Cupra will be a bit more than that, so maybe get a good 6 month old one (demonstrator car perhaps) for around the £11500 to £12k mark. But i definitely will need the TDi version with the amount of mileage i do !. Cannot wait !

I saw a gold coloured new style Ibiza parked at the SEAT garage the other day and it actually reminded me of the Focus front and corsa back !

Andy

You did really well, I had a 54 plate Cupra before the LCR and I paid about £13,400 for it a few months old with virtually no mileage.

I was a bit annoyed when i got my LCR as they dropped the price by about £2.5K after I bought mine which was the last batch they made before the new Leon. However, I have never yet regretted getting it - by far the most competent car I have ever owned and I am genuinely not sure what to get next!

I am always cautious with demonstraters, I bought a Rover 200 ex demonstrater, I virtually had to sleep with the salesman to get him to replace the terribly curb damaged wheels and the head gasket went 6 months after buying it. A catalogue of nightmares.

You are right, I think the fiesta, corsa and new ibiza do all look strikingly similar. :D

If the Leon Cupras are anything to go by then the Ibiza Cupras will fly off the shelf. I was very tempted to trade mine in but I think the Mk1 leon has a certain quality that is not there in the new one. I am a sucker for the A3, Leon, Focus shape and the magic is missing in the new one. i would also argue that it doesn't have the same road presence. :D

You are looking at an extra £1k for the TDi which is a shame but you get it back when you sell it i suppose.

Roll on next June :D

Too true!, roll on!. Befor this LC i had an MGZR and although it looked pretty good, it was as flat as a f@rt, seriously lacked power !. Before that i had the Fiesta Si and loved that, but i've never ever kept a car more than 2 years. This is the first car that i've had this length of time, it just never seems to age !. Much prefer the older shape LC than the new shape, so i agree with you on that one.

I think i might ask for a test drive of the bog standard new shape Ibiza, that way if i like it then i know the Cupra/FR would only be better ! - but then again, that will set me off wanting one to the point that i'll just give in and buy new in January (knowing me !!)

Andy

I had the Rover 214is followed shortly by the peppier 200 Vi - that car shamed many people, she certainly had some go in her. Then I had a red leon Cupra which I had the worst 10 months luck with and finally my LCR! Happy days!

That sounds like a good plan for the test drive! let me know how you get on. I have been out in my friends Leon MkII diesel and it feels nice but doesn;t have the charm or rawness of mine :D

I have been really good to not replace this one as I am same as you about swapping cars but looking to have this one for a while yet :D

They are definitely expensive hobbies - I have just had new pads, new bells, insurance, road tax and a service is due in 600 miles!!! My poor credit card :(

See if you can get one for the day or weekend :D

Hey good idea!, never though about getting one for a day or so. I'll have to ask them that.

Yep it's certainly an expensive hobby, i'll second that!!!!!, having said that, she's cost me nothing in the last 4 and a half years, so shouldn't grumble really (although i will grumble no doubt!) :)

Just seen another new Ibiza, this time in white. Not sure if i like the with, but certainly has unique looks !

Hi Andy,

They might not be too keen on the idea but you never know!!!

Sounds like you got a good one. In all fairness mine has been pretty rock solid too. Due another service in 500 miles and counting....

I really like white cars at the moment - especially with black wheels. The Leon K1, the new M3 and the Porsche 911 GT2 all look fab in white. Unfortunately there is only one in my price range and I wouldn't get one. :D

How you getting on with the tyres?

lol  !, the tyres seem very good !, been in all weathers up to now and going through puddles at 60mph needs very little effort to keep the steering straight !, really happy with them up to now !. They seem well worth the money i paid (£65 a tyre fitted & balanced etc)

I do love white cars with black alloys !!, just spotted a LCR with shiny blacks and had to take a moment to have a good look at it !, very smart indeed !

I was toying with the idea whether or not to get new alloys for my LC when i found out that goodyear were gonna cost £440 all round !, i can get a good set of alloys for that WITH TYRES !!!! - unfortunately i couldn't be swayed as i only needed to replace 2 tyres !!! hmm

Regards,
Andy

Great thread and a load of information - probably going to go with Falkens for all 4 tyres which will need changing shortly on the good ladies car.

£67.50 (from Camskill) per corner (and say £50 all fitted) seems a good starting point in the search for best value!

I have just ordered 4 Hankook K110 Evo v12's for my car from Camskill, so will see if they are as good as the German Car magazines reckon.
They are under £70 each delivered in Leon Cupra size from Camskill.
These tyres are beating the Michelins, Continentals, Bridgestones, Dunlop, Toyos etc and are supposed to be on par with the Goodyear Assymetrics according to the Germans.
