Boost gauge location - suggestions?

Having owned the car just over a week now, i've decided to replace the cr*ppy unconnected boost gauge that came with the car. So here we go :

Before :

After :

Now two things :

1) Placement - As its currently in the air vent, im unsure if it looks right there. Do I either buy a nomad pillar pod and add ann AFR gauge, or make up a custom fibreglass vent pod?

2) As its an electrical boost gauge, rather than a mechanical boost gauge theres a lot more components to wire/ plumb in (and for a guy with zero mechanical knowledge / competence this is a problem). What ive gathered from guides / previous threads is as follows :

- T peice after the recirc, and plumb the vacuum pipe in (its already fed through the drivers side into the engine bay)

- Vacuum pipe goes to servo, these wires go to the gauge.

- Wires are spliced into the headlight / dimmer switch, how is this removed for me to access the back of it? What about the earth? Best mounting point?

- Theres an airfilter supplied - where the hell does this go? lol

- If theres anyone in derby / notts / east mids who has some competence and wants paying for what is probably an easy job please let me know!

Cheers and apologies for the long post

Cheers for the suggestions, its staying in the airvent by the drivers door for now.

Now the time has come to fit this damned gauge, the wiring i think im sorted on, the actual plumbing into the engine though, is proving a confusion:shrug:

Its an autogauge gauge with stepper motor bought from the classy place know as halfords, from the instructions it says :

Put the t-peice between the surge tank and pressure regulator, with the addtional piping going to the boost / vacuum sensor and to put the airfilter provided in between.

Is this the actuator? Or is there a more accessible place that I can t off of to get a reading?

Cheers

Cut the pipe that goes to the top of the DV and put the T piece in there.

Yeah i'm going to do this tomorrow, also have the lighting panel pulled out and ready to splice, and the wires on the boost gauge are already extended ready.

Only thing is the wires are different colours to those on the autogauges guide.

Also I took the battery cover off to disconnect it, only to find the most complicated battery I have ever seen:lol:
