boost leak or poorly lcr!!! help me please people.

whats the best way to get the tip off or back on as it seams a bit fiddly.
i have a boost leak n cant figure it out. have service kit on order for my 007p. mite be that. any idea what a standard lcr boosts at??? any help very welcom. thank you

Doubt it would be your 007 but possibly. I don't have a boost gauge so will need to leave the question of boost levels to someone else.

As for your TIP tho, are you talking about the standard, black rubber thing that the car has as standard? If you take it out completely you're going to need to break some of the clips, some of them are single-use clips. You'll need to get jubilee clips to put it back on again but while you're at it you might be as well replacing the TIP for a silicone one from the likes of Forge or Samco.

If you do a search for boost leak on here you'll find heaps of info, this one's been covered loads of times even in the few months I've been on here so it's a well understood issue.

Standard bosst unmapped is between 10-12 psi.

thanks ive got silicon tip. Read that it cud b loose n cause presher leak. Not to sure tho. Only boostin to 0.5 bar. Wots that in psi?

14.5 PSI per 1 BAR

0.5 BAR is approx 7 PSI

well fitted service kit to 007p is a bit better. its 225bhp and as far as i can tell by my boost gauge that i have fitted nicely in glove box its boostin to just over 0.5 bar. is that right???

No, that's about 7 psi a standard leon 180 bhp boosts to 10 psi.

well just been for a run and the problem gone. Boosts to 1.5 bar now. Is that more like it? Its 225 bhp.

Are you sure? For your car to be hitting 1.5 bar it would have to be remapped as standard boost pressure is about 0.8 bar.
It seems like your car went into limp mode which is generally caused by a boost leak so make sure you check all your hoses for splits and it would be worth getting Vagcom on it to check for fault code

Must have been going into limp mode with is approx 5 PSI

had the code come up to check DV! so i serviced it. much better now. mite of been reading it wrong as was looking more at the road.
