I've decided to stump up for a pair of Aerotwin wipers as the blades I got at the dealers at my last service have only lasted 6 months. Tried all the tricks; swapping sides, cleaning with vinegar, running a stanley blade down each side of the blade, but they just don't do a good enough job. The rubber seem to have lost some flexibility.

Got nowhere at local shops/motor factors trying to find a supplier for the Bosch versions. After a freinds' good experience I contacted wiperblades.co.uk who offered to get them in to stock and put them on their site where they are now listed.

Has anybody here replaced their rear wiper blade? Can't find anywhere that lists it, or what it may be the same as. I'm guessing it may be the same as a Golf MkIV as it looks similar, but don't want to order without being sure.

Any help appreciated.

I'd better book mark the web page... good work :). I know I had a conversation perhaps six months ago with a part supplier in the UK and they said they would get them in. I've seen a very large range of Bosch twin blades in Auchan in France / Luxembourg and reasoned that if you waited long enough they would get them in.... handy for the twice yearly trip.

I don't know about the rear blades.

Standard Bosch Areo Twin's won't fit the front of an Altea, they have a bespoke fitting unique to the car, so only dealer parts will fit

Well I don't think that's true since Bosch designed the whole set up, it's a Bosch system and the guys on the German site have been fitting these blades for months, the 958S is made specifically for the Altea and new Toledo, it's the model number so they are hardly going to sell blades that don't fit. I don't think there is anything called a "Standard Bosch Areo Twin"... the blades come in boxes and the only fit specific cars, 958S are the ones that fit the Altea.

Has anyone over here managed to get hold of these yet??

I've had a couple of sets on order directly from Bosch UK. They just never seem to materialise

Got a set, as mentioned above, from http://www.wiperblades.co.uk. Cost £41 inc. next day delivery so not cheap, but not too much more than the dealer supplied ones which didn't last very long for me.

Still no definitive answer for the rear blade though. I must get round to taking the actual blade with me next time I go to the local motor discount shop.

My front ones are the factory fitted ones and still going strong after nearly 2 years. Would happily buy the SEAT ones again unless the quality of the spares is not as good as the factory ones. Let me know what you think of the BOSCH ones as I'm sure I'm not far off needing to replace mine.

As for the rear one, wait for it...

JML wonder wiper! My factory fitted rear was juddering within the first few months of owning the car so I removed the rubber and replace it with JML wonder wiper rubber which you have to cut to size. You get 2 blades in the pack and I'm still on the 1st one nearly 2 years later! :funk:

Had the factory wipers up to 17000 miles. 2nd set from dealers were leaving streaks at about 23000. Don't like driving unless the screen is crystal clear.

The Aerotwins are almost identical to the dealer supplied ones. Some of the mouldings are definitely the same, but the rubbers seem more flexible plus the aerofoil part is a little less tall which is made more obvious as the mouldings over it have a deeper cut to accommodate a deeper section.

Have kept the old wipers to try and perform a transplant when I get hold of some decend blade refills, then I can do the rear too. I'm sure I had seen some of the JML ones at the local Wilkinsons before, but no luck recently. May try JML direct.
