Brake light fault but not pedal switch...

I have had a brake light problem for the past week. Top light stays on dim but gets bright when peddle is pressed, other two do nothing. Traction control light is on all the time. Vag Com error was

00526 Brake Light Switch (f)
011 Open Circuit

I have since removed and replaced the Peddle switch with no joy. When switch is removed i get EPC light on dash and brake lights stick on. When new one was put in i go back to same problem as above. All fuses have been checked. Im now thinking it must be an earth problem or something?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Fixed, Bulbs went after i put in new switch. Changed bulbs and all sorted

Happy days mate got a strange problem myself when i press the brake my drivers side rear lights go out! Im thinking a bad earther as we just replaced the bulb last week

Worth pointing out you get that open circuit fault if both brake lights bulbs are blown.

Yup i replaced the two of them and it went away.

Hartosh i would check all bulbs and fuses first. Have you had it vagcom'ed?

Not yet mate was hoping Scott could do it for me on Sunday, i have ordered 2 new lights only £3 all in so gonna fit them when they arrive.
