bumpstrips painted!! What do you think?

car looks sweet mate, thats what i want to do, just waiting for the paint off my boss so i can do it (i do bodywork for a living), might re-paint the whole of the bumpers as the front seems to have been re-painted before (bubbles) and i scratched the back one re-versing into a car (oooops), might just do the front as it looks bad!
The only thing im worried about is taking the bumpers off, did you know how easy it was to take them off or was it done on the car? same with the stips? i know you have to reomve the front and back ones to take off the bumpers but i want to know what kind of job i have ahead of me...As ill be doin mine in the garage (no paint booth)

Thanks glad you like it! To be honest i dont know as it was done when i was on holiday? Im pretty sure the strips were left on and by looking at it i would say the bumpers were taken off but not sure, If you like i can call my cousin (how done the job) and ask him what he done and how easy it was.
nice colour too, theres a yellow one round the corner from me, TDi tho, looks better with them painted as ive seen a yellow cupra with the blacks still and it looks crap (bird drives it too)

Ok just made the call. The strips were left on, but he has made a good job! The bumpers came off. Front one was ok you can see all the screws by looking under the car but there are a couple of 8mm bolts up near the head light on the inside which are a bit of a pian but you can get to them. The back again most you can get to from under the car but you need to go in to the boot and take off plastic panel along the tail gate (if you know what i mean?) and there are some bolts in there. He said it was a bit of a bitch. Hope this helps?
cheers big ears. I know there are some behind the strips, i might take a day to look at taking it off so i know exactly what to do to minimise the time i dont have my car (not driving it without bumpers) done that with my golf, looked ghey.
Nice one, hopefully i can do it b4 summer is over (hot weather = faster paint drying time, plus the garage kind of acts like a paint booth, just no extractors lmao!!)

Spot on, i've been meaning to do this for a long time!
I'm sick of watching them turn grey when the back to black gets washed off!!
When the strips were prepped were they smoothed or were they just painted without removing the dimple sort of effect they have?

removing the dimpled effect is more effort than its worth as once you start sanding it, the plastic begins to fluff up in a way and it takes a while to get it proper smooth again, if anythin just buy pre-primed ones from seat or apply a shed load of primer to fill in the gaps and lightly wet-flat the strips to key it.
Or just lightly prime and paint, the finish will be still dimpled but it will be the right colour,
you dont need a spray shop to do just the strips as you can rip em off and paint em with a can in your garage, its cheaper, quicker and you still get a decent finish.
the bumpers them self need painting properly, off the car job, can be done in a garage if you have the means (like myself) you could even do the bumper with a can, i did on my mk3 golf, looked good, took a day but it still looked good

Looks nice - I had my door strips changed to pre primmed ones then colour coded, along with rear bumper strips. Didnt do lower section, didnt think it would look right... But yours looks good...
