Can bus cable

I need a can bus cable suitable for a mk5 golf tdi.

On the ross tech website, seems to have a micro can usb cable and hex can usb cable, it states

That mirco can should work, it is cheaper than than hex can.

so what is overal different between them two beside the price

From memory, the HEX-CAN-USB is backwards compatible, whereas the Micro CAN isn't.

Just want to be ceratin with will work with newer models as well, eg mk2 skoda's, mk2 leons, plus the new audis.
My older hex key should handle the non can cable cars.

Never mind, done abit of research, micro can works with most newer models but some newer audi/vw require the can hex can bus cable only
