nice job- me personally i converted the old xbox to a media center etc etc - but worthwile considering if you need the (shut up kids) playability for games etc

never did try gps though - mmmm

if i was to do something like this again, i'd prob get this-

nice n neat, and less hassle...only downside is the screen not being built in...but that could be sorted out fairly easy...with the help of some fibre glass (see my old setup below)

Fl@pper I am at the next sheff meet. See the thread from T.Spark in the meets section. I am happy to show anyone the Car PC and how its setup there.

Skoov can you PM me when your Seat skin for Mobile Impact is done? Id be very interested in trying it out. Im using mediacruiser at the moment. its OK but i know theres better. So far ive found roadrunner and frodoplayer a bit too bulky and does more than what i need.

The skin's for RR mate. I don't know when that'll be finished as I get very little time to actually work on it :(

i think i need me one of these!

after the exterior is done..i am doing this :)

any one able to help, as i'm useless with computers lol..i'd love for it to autosync to the mp3's and cd's on my home system!

would mean i can get rid of the 200 odd cds littering the car :)

I'm in the middle of getting mine sorted now, I can help you out with building the Mini-ITX system but I've no idea about the wiring needed to get it into the car.

It does have a GPS in it as well, however im not really using that as such yet. Im trying to find some decent software to log what the GPS is doing to a file and then upload it when it can. Kinda like a primitive sat nav system, or just be nice to have a log to see where the cars been and where it was and when.

I made a small program working on PDA under Windows Mobile 2003/5 and CE 4.2 and PC under Windows. The first function is track-timing (but it can log GPS position to a file), the second is performance test.

Some screen shots (in French sorry - but the program automatically switch in english)

Manual and download here : http://sebastien.guchet.free.fr/ChronoGPS/ChronoGPS.htm

(use a online translator, manual only in french, but I think the program is enough simple and easy to understand).

And sorry for my bad english !

Got it in!

Finally, after a few months of buying bits and building it up in my house I got it moved into the car, most of the work done by Andrew off here though while I sat and tried to help

Looks class and I keep taking the key out of the ignition to watch the screen tuck it's self away. I'll get some pics up if I can get hold of a digital camera.

My dad said he'll have a search for his digi cam when he gets in tonight so I might be able to nip out and get a few pics, the boot is a bit of a mess at the minute though because I've had to jam it in place with some cardboard boxes. We we're going to velco it down but @ 6:30 on a sunday no where would have been open! It does look really good though. Check back around 7:30 and I'll see if I can get some stuff uploaded.

Photo's

Well here are some pics, I've been out in the snow so I only got one of the boot!

I'll try and get some better ones up at the weekend, that'll hopefully be the last time I can because I'm going to get a mate to knock up a false floor for the boot when he's got some spare time @ work.

Took months to get it sorted but it was worth it in the end :)

Glad you got it all sorted in the end!! I would have helped more, but was cold and really only room for 2 in the beeza whilst working :D

Nice to meet you anyway, and glad Boom^ comes in handy for sumet...

Now he can do mine :D

What are you using to get the sound into your head unit mate? A car2pcadaptor?

Fordy is using the better Alana head unit of the Facelift Ibiza FR. So its just an audio jack straight in, press AUX and the sound comes through. Mine is pre face lift 05 model. Wow they're different in more ways than you think! Even behind the fuse box for getting hte power is totally different. Im using the car2pc adaptor.. however its great for the sound but the control from the alana head unit isnt 100% complete. (ie cant skip tracks but can fast forward). Cheapest and easiest way is to use an FM transmitter but it doesnt sound as good.

Glad its all still working for you fordy, had nightmares that the thing would just die on the way home :) Still it was a pretty clean install. Would love for someone to build an adaptor for the screen to plug straight into a pass through on the head unit to save messy wiring :)

What he said, bought a male to male 3.5mm (standard size for headphones etc.) cable and just stuck in in the AUX in which is opposite the Traction Control in the facelift FR.

Yeah T.Spark it was a bit chilly like working in the snow! Luckily it was all over in 9 hours

Bet ur loving it now tho :D

Think I might take a trip down to Spain to get mine done, aswell as arange that meet :D
