Not yet mate, tbh, they were fully booked with work til Thursday, but sai to drop it off and if time became available before then they would look at it. I figured it was doing more good at the garage than on my driveway.

Normal fuel shouldnt be throwing up faults. The Ecu is clever enough to just pull things back, and it should only really be noticeable whilst on WOT periods.

White smoke after a headgasket change would make me worried.

Head Gasket is still original, n coolant issues etc, the power gasket is an insulated gasket fitted to the inlet manifold.
Picking the car back up in the morning, fresh dot5.1 has been put in the brake system, and the rear beam polybushes are on. Apparently car is running fine.

Gonna take it steady til have cleared a bit of the fuel out of the tank and replaced with VPower, I'm still dubious as car was running great til the 95octane stuff went in. I'm taking my gf to Chester this weekend so will give it some nice steady motorway miles.

For some reason I envision things going pop if I go down that route...imagine the horrible results if its expecting a big rush of 99octane goodness and it gets 95...eek!!!It's got half a tank of v power, half a tank of 95octane and a bottle of redex octane booster in there.

Car is now back, feels great wit the Powerflex rear bushes in, is still misfiring a little but bunged an extra £10 of VPower in before and it is improving, smoke has gone too.
Gave it a much needed clean before too:

Right. Unfortuantely had to put some petrol from Total in my car last Saturday. Car has run like a bag of spanners ever since. Misfiring, hesitating, limiting boost etc...is showing several fault codes but no actual engine management light:

16621 - Manifold Pressure / Boost Sensor (G31): Signal too Low

Occasionally get 16622 - Manifold Pressure / Boost Sensor Signal Too High

18000 - Altitude Sensor / Boost Pressure Sensor: Implausible Correlation

I'm guessing it's plausible these could all be caused by the misfires from the petrol?

I have been topping it up with VPower at every opportunity, and it has slowly started running smoother. My only concerns are if it has bust a sensor along the way.

On another note, took the car for some motorway running over the weekend, the rear beam bushes make it feel a fair bit more stable, and if anything are a smoother ride than what has come out!!

Sainsbury's City Diesel does exactly the same to my car! I'd rather pay the difference (not that there is any down here between BP and Sainsburys! :ban:) to have alot better quality stuff!

In my defence it wasn't through choice! lol

Car perked up for a bit last night, then went limp again...think it will just take time to sort itself out.

I think it's more just the fuel is cr@p than the octane tbh. I've been in touch with Total to complain, they seem to be taking it seriously. Symptoms match up to those of the cars hit by the problems with cheap supermarket fuel in 2007.

Car is still coughing and spluttering, it's finally on the redlight for low fuel, so is off to the garage for a fresh fuel filter and decent fuel.

Failing the above sorting the limp mode issues, I have been researching online, it may well need a new Lambda sensor :(

I have this problem but less serious...filled up from Tesco's with normal diesel and really struggling to get a decent MPG..only about high 40's low 50's...where as from BP i seems to get high 50's low 60 on my way to work?? strange

Not sure how it works with diesel, but I know iyou get lower mpg on lower octane/quality petrol because you are having to use more to get the same 'bang' if that makes sense?

yeah thats what i thought..but when i filled up from tescos before it was fine, might be a dodgy batch? Will try better stuff next time.

Hope you get yours sorted soon

I know a lot of cheaper fuel jus has ethanol dumped into it to raise the octane.

I usually only ever use VPower, and I will only be using it going forward.

I hope it gets better soon too mate, really miss having the extra punch. Daft thing is it's still quick in limp mode, as quick as it was before the map...but makes me realise how used to the stage 2 I have become!!
